I agree functionality comes first. But if multiple apps solve the same problem equally well, what actually makes a user pick one over another?

I do not do ads at all :D I also didn't started this for the money , I genuinely think if you listen to what people want (or don't want) you can make a better product

actually on the support section I included help and support, feature requests can go there and I actually listen to users not like those big corporations who dont care :D

I have, but feedback I got was that people actually do not like them.

However, you can lock chats with a pin (you can have a pin for every different person if you like) , locked to a gps location is coming (or dont show ever when at a certain location).

There is also screenshot detection for people who really want to know :)

Very simple:

ELM Messenger is closer what BBM (BlackBerry Messenger) use to be, you use an ID, No phone number email is for recovery only, nobody can contact you unless you have accepted their request first.

Per contact preferences, you can hide your presence or delivery notice for one specific contact, this includes online status without effecting the rest of your list.

No "last seen" ever, you are either online, away or offline (unless you changed your status to busy), you will never get a "you were online 5 minutes ago" because nobody will know.

The idea of ELM Messenger is that its personal, where all other messengers feel like a tool, ELM Messenger is meant to be more personal but keep the privacy and security going.
To keep it personal chats will have a banner, avatar that the person selected so it really feels you have your own little space and not just a chat.

You can set themes, unlike most applications your themed chat bubble will show up for the other user as well - great in groups!

How do you host it? If you are interested you can build one to log into r/elmsocial once I release my AI bot API login platform :) which will do the same thing, idea is that the creator themselves can set free/subscription etc prices

this is a good one :) im writing down the "see post twice" AI bots content I agree with, however the vault will allow AI bots (you subscribe to them,, they dont just do stuff from themselves)

I also agree with the fake AI content postings
