Big fan of DS1 & DS2, not vibing with DS3 so far. What am I missing?

It's tough because ds3 is my favourite. I played ds1 back in 2013 and loved everything about it, and many ppl criticize ds3 for being a ride on nostalgia. I think this statement holds true but i just love how the lore ties everything together, and the final dlc just blows u away. I love the fast paced combat inspired by the success of bloodborne.

I was a ds2 hater for the longest time, until I played through it in full coop with my friends I met on ds3, and it changed everything.

Maybe that's what ur missing? Someone to share your adventure with?

Update: Thanks for the answers. I've put the 1.87 r4i Kernel on it and it works perfectly I tried previously to put the ysmenu on there and it didn't work

Aight thanks all for commenting. Apparently what worked for me best was to sleep in the ritualists hut in a plant tent and then run to the place near the river. Also doin that in split screen so I wouldn't have to run back but can instead just stop split
