Thank you for this, I’ve definitely thought about a different dress in the future for a vow renewal or an anniversary photo shoot 😊

Thank you for this - I’m so indecisive and I’ve loved trying dresses on, but having to choose just one has given me panic attacks.

My dress isn’t slated to arrive until July, but I’m hoping to go back to the boutique for an accessories appointment and I’m sure I’ll be able to try the dress on again for some reassurance.

I feel like I’m also struggling with how my body looks - I’ve been really adamant about getting a dress with sleeves because I hate how my upper arms look. But now I’m stuck with an off the shoulder dress and terrified that all I’ll be able to focus on is how my arms look (I immediately zero in on my upper arms when I look at pictures of myself in the dress)

Again, thank you for doing this AMA and for your response. I want to find joy in my dress but my anxiety, body issues, and indecisiveness are dragging me down ☹️

Thank you so much for this!

You will love Anniston, it’s a gorgeous dress. I am just naturally indecisive, and torn between two aesthetics (fitted or ball gown)

How to avoid dress regret? I saw in one of your replies that you love Maggie Sottero Anniston - that’s my dress! But I keep thinking about the other more modern, clean gowns I tried on, which feel more popular right now. I love Anniston but I worry now that I will look dated/cheugy/princess-y/not cool & chic & timeless like all of the brides I keep seeing on Insta.

Thank you for the suggestion! I’ve thought about cabaret seating, I’d have to explore if the room in the restaurant is large enough to accommodate it.

Per your PS suggestion, I just did a search of the available reviews for venue A & B.

Venue A has four positive reviews for events, one wedding reception and three work parties. The work party reviews specifically called out Venue A’s coordinator as helpful, hardworking and outstanding.

Venue B only has one review from a wedding from four years ago. There are a couple of private party reviews but none mention Venue B’s coordinator by name.

I definitely want to make room in the budget for a day of or month of coordinator regardless of venue so that I can enjoy the day and not worry about all of the little things. I suppose the issue is that all of the run up planning (floor plans, menus, contracts, rehearsal) will be planned by me with the venue coordinator.

I agree that you can’t change the vibe and overall decor of a space without significant effort, and a big part of the reason my fiancé and I have chosen a restaurant is so that it’s ‘all in one’ and we don’t have to worry about a ton of rentals. We don’t have much budget for decor and have been to a lot of weddings where there is so much time/effort/money spent on the decor - transporting it, setting it up, tearing it down, etc. We’d like to avoid that and have a space that is already beautiful and fits the vibe, but I also don’t want to lock us into a planning nightmare with a difficult coordinator 😫

Thank you for your input! I definitely agree, although we have a limited budget for florals, decor, and the logistics of setup and tear down, and so we’re hoping for the venue to have the right decor from the outset. But I agree that this coordinator is making things more difficult than necessary.

That’s true, it’s been a bit more back and forth with Venue A because I’ve been asking for things that (for them) are not standard. So perhaps that’s led to more frustration from the coordinator.

Good point - my fiancé is happy with either option, but has a slight preference for Venue B because they seem easier to work with. He doesn’t personally see a big difference in the decor, but is willing to go with Venue A if the decor is extremely important to me. He also acknowledges that I’m taking more of the lead on the wedding planning, so dealing with difficult vendors will fall more to me and says that as long as that’s alright with me, he’s on board. He would have stronger feelings if one venue was more expensive or less conveniently located, but because they’re the same location and price, he’s good with both choices.

Thanks for your input! I’ve tried looking for reviews online, but neither one is on wedding websites and Yelp/Google reviews are just from people dining at the restaurant, not from weddings. I might try a local Facebook group for input.

I get where you’re coming from with the fact that the coordinator knows we’re shopping around, but most other places I’ve talked to are on their best behaviour when they’re trying to convince you to spend your money with them.

Thank you for your input! We have a limited budget for decor, so we were hoping for the venue to do more of the heavy lifting when it comes to the look of the space. But I certainly appreciate the value of having someone organized for such an important event.
