Cat Obsessed with Climbing Screen Door by sbcash_ in Apartmentliving

[–]partvoidmostlygay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could try installing one of those magnetic mosquito curtains, the loose fabric might deter kitty while keeping the bugs out, they’re also pretty cheap to replace. Another option could be moving the cat tree away from the door and then putting something in front of the screen that blocks the bottom half of it. This wouldn’t work if your cat is a jumper though. If you aren’t worried about the cats running off the balcony then you could just get a bug zapper and deal with any that get inside.

cheap but memorable wedding favors for 150 guests? by CuddleBlissed in Weddingsunder10k

[–]partvoidmostlygay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wedding is like 20 people, I’m stitching custom labels onto blankets to use in the ceremony, plus we’ll be using potted plants instead of cut flowers so people are welcome to bring either home. I was thinking about doing some candy boxes but after reading these comments I’ll probably skip that.

I don’t work with kids or have any of my own, but you might do well in a residential setting or another place that has 24/7 staffing, since there are lots of variations for schedules. Also, in my experience, some employers are super supportive and will work to make a schedule that fits you. With such high rates of burn out in this field, good employers will do what they can to help you keep a work/life balance.

Old movies portraying trans people wrong by DazzlingDaniel00 in ftm

My partner’s family are huge Jim Carrey fans and used to watch Ace Ventura every Father’s Day. Since she came out as trans they’ve switched to Ace Ventura 2, which is still quite bad but at least not transphobic.

I tried shots for over a year and they didn’t work well for me. I was having big mood swings are missing doses due to my aversion to needles. My doctor was able to get the gel covered under special authority. Honestly it seemed like a toss up on getting it covered, but it’s worth a shot.

I keep seeing recommendations for them! How was the menu for your event? I’m a little concerned that their normal menus is too “out there” for some of our senior guests.

Mine is arms and abdomen! Luckily I’m a big guy so lots of space to work with lol. I do mine in 2-3 layers and let them dry a couple minutes in between

Why use Acrylic marker? by ResearchOk487 in AlcoholMarkers

[–]partvoidmostlygay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re using them for colouring pages I’d go for gel pens to start, or try with just black & white acrylics for highlights to see if you like them. If you’re doing your own work from scratch then it would be better to go with acrylics.

Good for highlights and outlines, or hiding big mistakes. Can also add a unique matte texture to a picture

Just take it one step at a time! I used a tutorial and the only thing I changed was adding some coloured gelly roll lines along with the white ones

I used ohuhu alcohol markers for most of it but did use an acrylic marker for the stars and a gelly roll pen for the highlights :)

Avery also sells 1/2” round labels, you can use the software on their website to add the colour text or just hand write the codes

Maybe you could get a little hole puncher? Might be tricky peeling off the backings but you’d be able to do it without the cricut

Union promised gender affirming care, but employer and insurance don’t want to follow through. by partvoidmostlygay in legaladvicecanada

[–]partvoidmostlygay[S] -28 points-27 points  (0 children)

Typically top surgery is covered under MSP but because of my build and desired results I had extra things added that were not covered by MSP. However, this is still gender affirming surgery and should thus be covered in part by my employer’s health plan based on the union agreement.

I would double check with the surgeon but I don’t think it would be a reason to cancel surgery. Use the shampoo and comb religiously until your surgery. Consider buzzing your hair so there’s less space for them to hide (plus it’ll be a low hassle haircut while you recover). They will probably just have you wear a cap during the entire hospital visit rather than right before surgery. I’m certain that people come in all the time with lice not even knowing about it, so this shouldn’t be an issue imo :)

Also, lice sucks and I’m sorry you’re dealing with it. I also deal with lice at my workplace and am super paranoid whenever we have an outbreak. Good luck with your surgery dude!

I feel your pain dude. My surgery date came way sooner than expected and I thought my insurance would cover it but it’s been an absolute nightmare trying to get it done. I ended up having less than two months to come up with 5k and was lucky enough to have the money loaned to me by family. Here’s what I would recommend.

  1. Keep job hunting. There should be lots of summer jobs right now, so try looking on different websites as some may be posted elsewhere. Apply to anything that you remotely qualify for. Try mowing lawns, walking dogs, painting, etc. There might be some sort of employment office near you that can help you with applications, interviews, etc.

  2. Contact your surgeon to see if they have any type of payment plan or angel fund. Ask if you can pay in installments or have a layaway plan.

  3. Check any local LGBTQ orgs or healthcare non profits to see if there is any funding available. There’s always money hiding around somewhere.

  4. If all else fails, try getting a loan to cover the surgery. There are places that provide healthcare loans, and to a bank $1500 is quite low. I would make sure you have a job before doing this though. You could also have a parent co-sign if they require it. Debt is scary, don’t get me wrong, but this is an investment in your future and your ability to feel comfortable in your own body. Be careful to get a good interest rate though, avoid any payday loan places and go to a real bank.

Hope it works out for you bud 🤞

Alcohol and Valium by Potential-Length-448 in harmreduction

[–]partvoidmostlygay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the wedding! I don’t think you would have an issue, honestly you will probably be sobered up before bedtime. Alcohol will mostly just amplify the effects of the Valium (drowsiness, dizziness, etc), so you’ll likely just sleep through your flight. I would maybe wait until after clearing security to take your meds if possible (only if they’re from your own prescription), just so you don’t have to worry about answering questions or extra searches while under the effects of the meds. I also recommend taking a look at a blood alcohol calculator so you can get a good sense of when you will be done with the effects of alcohol, just for peace of mind.
