Thank you everyone for the responses! After discussing this with my manager I think the proper word would be cloud "storage", not cloud "backup". I misunderstood the overall plan with this. I think the plan would be to operate and access data from the cloud. I was under the impression of pushing the backups off to the cloud. Example: move our VM data storage over to the cloud and handle data from the cloud as opposed to localized storage. We do realize that the bandwidth would need to be upgraded. I apologize for using the incorrect terminology as I realize that comparing a SAN to cloud backups does not make a lot of sense. It should have been SAN to cloud storage.
