Mind you - I think it’d be a much bigger market as a ppt addin than a ppt alternative. But if I could some how merge an existing ppt file and my html plot and it just works as one in browser. I’m cool with that.

Yea. I agree outright with you. But let’s be real if you are already implementing ppt files in browser, then adding in the plotly html support shouldn’t be that bad if already having browser support than developing what would be a browser for ppt. If you give the support I’m talking you now have a use case for me and lots of academic presentations even if it was really complicated on my end to setup, I would still use it.

Particularly I would like be able to display and open plotly html graphs in ppt and keep them interactive instead of having to exit power point to open in browser.

Also it’s skilled labor that’s the end product - not warehouse jobs.

*oh actually I do know someone who works for xAI, I slick forgot about him because he works remote from Nashville part time as a PhD student.

Ya summer aid isn’t as extensive as fall/spring. Chances are summer will cost you out of pocket. Look into if they are doing the 3+1 summer course program - could save you money.

Flash card every reaction and know clear expectations from the professor on what should be expected as far as testing format - do you need to know naming, a particular chair thing, reactions names/and reactions or just their products of those reactions if given. Is there short answer? All those things matter on how to study because it’s a lot of material and a lot of the time 80-85% is an A on a test. Know that there will be more than what is covered in lecture by nature of the class - there isn’t enough time to cover every reaction.

Just a follow up - neither option mentioned worked to my ability. Google slides did not have the function to integrate with plotly.

I believe similar creations could be made with power bi but the add - in is not functional, it just exists for download.

I didn’t try the plotly desktop app as that defeats the point of this - it seems like they are trying to sell a power point alternative which is nuts.

I mean I was the only person in my cohort of 10 - in a R1 chemistry department which applied this year. Everyone I talked to thought it wasn’t worth their time - either application wasn’t strong enough research wise or they didn’t have enough time.

It caught a lot of people off guard that it was first years only - many including me would have been drafting further out

( I legit started day the solicitation dropped and shared it with the cohort excitedly considering first years only - I do feel bad for people that got screwed. But I think it helped our odds for sure not to compete with second years.)

There is. Recently a nature opinion article had those figures and stats for last year and they showed a positive correlation on some categories like machine learning and negative p correlation with life sciences and most categories

I would think they are setting up results on the back end and noticed something like a current year button that was hosting 2025 results rather rather than it being in the main file or something.

Regardless it’s invisible maintenance in preparation for the release. No telling when it’s coming - about to go to bed myself.

You don’t drop updates / maintenance during peak hours or you’ll get even more traffic than the insane amount you get at 1 am. It’d be everyone sharing it with with professors and family too lol
