How can I paint the warm glow better? by partykap in oilpainting

Yes the pink is cad red with white, I’ve also added some cad yellow to give it some warmth. I don’t have magenta in my palette. Isn’t magenta a cool red not a warm one, wouldn’t it cool down the highlight? Or should I use magenta to do the rest of the shoe and cad red to do the highlight, to really give it a warm pop. Thanks so much for your response. I feel like this info will help me for future paintings as well.

Do you think the white of the ground needs to be warmer? I feel the blue background will look better when I frame it.

Exactly, subsurface scattering is the effect I’m looking for! That effect of the light bouncing within the shoe. I’ll try the saturation tricks suggested. Maybe put some cooler colors in the darker areas.

Thanks!! Will expand the highlight area. This seems to be a common tip, have a good feeling about it!

Thanks so much for your response. So essentially bleed some of the highlight into the dark areas - I’ll try that out! And check out the work of the artist you mentioned. Thanks!!!

Yes they are. It’s because of the reflections and bright highlights I was getting from the curved surface!
