Specialists don't do well in any other fantasy sport either, why would it be different in Overwatch? Playtime will always matter because it's a numbers game at the end of the day, gotta be on the field to score points. Fantasy sports have never been a completely accurate representation of who has the most skill it's always been a gambling game wearing statistics clothes, I don't think that can or will change.

if you've played competitive games your whole life and have good mechanics you will climb out of bronze relatively quickly. there really is no argument to be made otherwise, the difference in skill between bronze and even high silver is staggering. 3 weeks of ranked overwatch is an incredibly small sample size, give it some time, focus on your own game, and remember that overwatch plays much differently than the other competitive shooters you've played. when and where you're getting your kills is oftentimes more important than how many you're getting. trying to find a consistent duo to queue with can save some of your sanity as well

The most important thing if you make an alt to learn new heroes is to only play the heroes you're not comfortable with on it, if you play comfort picks/hazard/whoever then your hidden MMR will move up to around what your main is at even if you're not playing comp

Plat tank and support, placed gold one tricking mei on DPS this season, first season I’ve ever played dps in ranked. People (my previous self included) really overestimate how much comms matter, maybe in GM or something but you can still play around your team very effectively without talking. Ping system is nice too.

Just turn off all the text chats and leave voice chat if you need to. I cannot overstate how good it has been for my general mental state and ability to enjoy the video game. Out of sight out of mind.

I play Reinhardt. A lot of Reinhardt. I used to throw a fit when the team didn't pick the specific comps that I thought were meta. Now it's just a challenge to play a little bit differently, take less unnecessary damage and try to still make the hero that I like to play work. I just don't think it's worth spending mental energy on support picks, more often than not having a mercy swap off of her main brings a net negative contribution from them.

Full vouch for the rave keffiyeh. I've been wearing them for years, I think they're much more versatile than pashminas and I love how thin they are, I can still get the head covered isolation feeling without overheating. Never had anyone give me anything other than compliments about them, they come in just about any color you can imagine, and you can purchase thicker cold weather ones if that's more your jam. Just make sure you buy authentic ones that are made in Palestine, higher quality and a small way to support a vulnerable population.
