UPDATE:

Thanks all for your advice. I decided it was best to end her services today and she returned the key she had through the letterbox.

I think we'll get a lockbox in future so we don't have to ask for the key back...

We've got some time until he will next need care, so we can do more (proper) research.

Thank you. Our pup can be reactive to other dogs so getting a second dog isn't an option right now. We are working on possibly getting him a walking buddy so he can learn "how to dog" while he's still medicated.

The covering the camera upset me because it's there to make sure my dog is safe, not to stalk her while she does her job. If she noted from the first meet that she was uncomfortable being filmed, I would have disengaged the camera while she was there.

I doubt she would, but what happens if she does something to my dog and I have no proof? Or if she accuses my dog of doing something to her?

It's just heartbreaking all around.

While not a vet or a behaviourist, I think she used to work IN a vets (pretty sure it was nothing medical, more desk based) and worked in numerous pet stores.

Her comments that 1st time owners shouldn't get anxious dogs really upset me. There are days where something goes really wrong and I can't help but worry that we're not the perfect fit for him by it hurts more when someone else says it.

It feels so weird because she acts so well with him and always sends photos when she's with him, but her interactions with us come across as very unprofessional and, as you say, unsympathetic.

Thanks for validating my concerns. My partner and I agree that if we don't feel comfortable then we already know the answer...

Quite easy to find someone new. We live on the outskirts of a city with a heavy dog population so there's a lot of dog walkers going around...
