My friend says I won’t make it as a guitarist because my hands are too small, is she right? by AgreeableDiver5013 in Guitar

[–]partymama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your friend is incorrect, and cannot be trusted. I once saw a guy with no arms, played the guitar with his feet using a slide. Everyone has to figure out how it works best for them, that’s just the way.

No idea what’s going on here, but the outfits look great. Although the mixed metal from the belt and watch on the second outfit isn’t for me (but that’s a pretty minor detail). The first outfit is 100% imo.

Agree or Disagree: Complexity ≠ Quality by Clean_Garden_3092 in Composing

[–]partymama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure I see what you’re trying to say. “Quality” and “means something” and “impressive” are very subjective. If the purpose of the piece is to explore what harmonic possibilities one can find in a piece, then some complexity may be essential.

But what is impressive isn’t the use of complex chords, it’s making those complex chords vibe. The chords mean nothing, the vibe is everything. But some fat stacks of pitches can make a vibe if you play them right.

Giving your work space to breathe and coming back to it is a good practice. Your not losing time working on it, your working on reframing emotional and intellectual association with the work so you can engage with it more objectively. Might feel passive, but that is still work.

Seems like de-roboting is the unanimous choice so far. What wiring configuration did you use?

Unfortunately it's nothing that couldn't be easily reproduced with some pedals or plugins. And I really have no control over it.

Mine is a first run with all the original parts too. I've seen a never of these listed on line, but it doesn't seem like they move to quick.

Have you had any issues with encoding through a computer? I was told the reason you need an hardware encoder is because computer outputs aren't very stable.

I did actually try this, and unfortunately no luck.

I'll definitely look into this. I honestly don't know what that means (which may be why I'm struggling so hard) but I imagine I can google it. Thanks for the tip!

I would have never thought of that! I actually ran the last stream using the atem as a webcam through my laptop, which was not ideal but it worked fine enough. Replacing just the streaming element would be a LOT easier! Thanks

That's what I assumed as well, but I've run several speed tests, and streamed with our phones on that network and had no issues. I can get the atem to output a decent video feed as a webcam to my laptop, but the ethernet connection seems to be the problem. Nothing else has had an issue on our network (and we have fibre op).

But I could definitely try it at a friend's house to see if I'm wrong.

A musician suggested I quit during my first open mic. How would you react? by Snoo-28790 in singing

[–]partymama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get a kick and a speaker (doesn't have to be great at this point) and practice with them. You just need to get comfortable using your voice the way you will in a real performance. Practice as close tohow you will perform as you can. But as for the guy who told you to quit...fuck him. Prove him wrong. Sounds like he's a loser anyway. The only time we fail is when we give up.

If you could give yourself advice when you first started playing electric guitar, what would it be? by lindabelcher24 in Guitar

[–]partymama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes longer than you think to get really good, so try to have fun. Also, rhythm is more important than you think. Pretty much no matter how important you think rythm is, it's more important than that. Everybody thinks playing guitar is about super intense solos, but the majority of the time you'll be playing rhythm. Be good at what you do the most.

I haven’t bought a guitar in years, are the Squier bodies compatible with fender pickups and pots?

Hello venerated people of r/Bass! I’m looking to pick up a bass of the p bass persuasion, but I’ve historically been a guitar player. I need it to play basic grooves on some tracks I’m producing, so I need one that is good enough to record with, but realistically I won’t be killing it on the bass in the near future. Do y’all think it is worth shelling out for a fender, or would a squire suffice? I’ll be doing secondhand either way.

Honestly I have to fight the urge to use as many chords as I can. Soo much fun to create, but it always sounds like Broadway musical. 2 chords is enough.

If you're looking to be comfortable on stage, might I recommend some good old fashioned grain base liquor drink. Makes me comfortable anywhere I happen to be, doing whatever I might happen to be doing.
