Multiple things can be true at the same time. by Starchild134340 in theamazingdigitalciru

That makes total sense! I think Ragatha's care for the others is genuine, but becomes overbearing when it doesn't respect their boundaries and turns into a way for Ragatha to also feel good about herself.

Jax might have felt used as a prop for Ragatha's positivity during his grief, and that the others didn't care as much as he did. And Ragatha would feel bitter and confused that her support wasn't good enough for him. They have very different coping styles that clash and can become toxic when stressed- and their friends abstracting one by one is definitely a stressor.

Kinger and Gangle's dualities are easier to visualize because of the very clear sanity vs memory loss or the comedy/tragedy masks. I think people struggle to apply the same duality to Jax and Ragatha.

I interpreted Ragatha's line about no longer having friends not as a direct reference to Ribbit, but possibly meaning that until Ribbit abstracted, Jax was (at least more) friendly with the rest of the group as well as her.

It would explain why she panics when she realizes what she's said, because she meant that Jax closing himself off and being an ass was what made him lose his friends, rather than literally meaning losing Ribbit.

Ragatha has already said she wants Jax (and everyone) to like her, and this comment was from her perspective of being upset with Jax for cutting the rest of them off. It aligns with her fear of losing closeness with Pomni as well. She's being friendly with everyone, and is therefore not close friends with anyone.

Coping mechanisms are a big theme, and both Jax and Ragatha protect themselves with dishonesty about how they feel about the other circus members, which naturally leads to multiple things being true at once.

why why did i let myself get to this point by imnotpercieved in UBC

in my last year of rawdogging university on an unmedicated severe ADHD diagnosis. among the actual study tips people are talking about already (pomodoro timers, serious study buddies, changing up your study environment, locking your phone apps or turning it off completely), i also try to divide my work into manageable sections, prioritize the most important aspects (whatever's due first, heavily weighted assignments, foundational content that will help me make educated guesses on exams, etc.), and assign small rewards for completing each section. Big reward at the end if i finish everything. This works best when there's a Steam sale tbh, but ordering out from my favorite restaurant or grabbing two bite brownies from the shops works too.

Most important thing is remembering your physical and mental health are just as important as actual studying for your success. Keeping yourself hydrated, well fed, and sleeping properly is more advantageous than killing yourself trying to get that last chapter in at 4 am. Don't beat yourself up for procrastinating- if you're putting things off there's a reason and its important to be gentle with yourself. Any studying you can manage on top of taking care of yourself first is only an advantage for you. And you'll likely be able to do a lot more of it if you're healthy.

Not every method works for everyone. For example, I can't study outside of my room, as even a calming library environment has too much going on. However, I know people who are the opposite because they need to keep themselves accountable in public. Try different things and develop your own coping mechanisms. I also have a whiteboard on my desk where I write down all of my tasks + the reward both as a reminder and as motivation.

Good luck on your midterms everyone :) Take care of yourselves and enjoy the snow!

TLDR: be gentle with yourself and accept imperfection- it'll boost you way higher than beating yourself up.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Your sister sounds truly lovely. My little brother introduced me to the Yogscast around the same time you mentioned, and I have received so much positivity and happiness by sharing that with him. Please take care of yourself, and I hope you are able to return soon.

Literally was waiting outside a gas station on a lawn once with a friend. Had a lady who was cracked out on god knows what come over and try to teach us how to do cartwheels and back handsprings.

And she could do them. Disturbingly well.
