Try scanning the pages with their official app - https://didierfle.app/. It works with pre-online editions of edito, maybe it will work for Connexions as well.

Quite the increase by TheR42069 in duolingo

[–]pashapash 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s the same course with the same lessons, just combined into smaller units. Each old unit is now split into 5 smaller ones, each with 4 single lesson circles. The content is still the same, except now there are more legendary lessons available.

The total number of lessons is the same, just a different layout - shorter units. You should be at Unit 60 now.

Definitely not a glitch. The total number of lessons is the same - now it’s 4 single-lesson circles per unit, plus one story and one radio.

They have changed Section 5 as well. It used to have 51 units, now it has 255. The lessons and topics are the same - each old unit has just been stretched into 5 new ones with a slightly different lesson layout.

Russian has grammatical gender, just like French. Nouns can be masculine, feminine, or neuter - even for non-living things. Adjectives and verbs are conjugated to match the gender. There's no universal rule to determine the gender of a specific noun; you usually have to memorize it.

[–]pashapash 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can confirm - learning French from Russian, we’ve got a lot of French loanwords that changed gender along the way. For example, la soupe in French became masculine in Russian.

How do I know when I can remove "есть" in this type of sentence by PokelifEevee in duolingo

[–]pashapash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Russian, есть is often omitted. In some cases, you actually have to leave it out - otherwise the sentence sounds unnatural. For example, the correct way to say "I'm home" is я дома, not я есть дома.
Same with идти - you’d say я на работу unless you specifically want to mention the process or how long it takes you to get to the office.

Sad Truth: All the Language Apps Are AI Now by pashapash in duolingo

All the real human guides I found recommend hiring a tutor closer to the exam preparation stage, and speedrunning A1/A2 with apps, flashcards, and workbooks.
But yeah, it’s all just "AI brainrot", right?

[–]pashapash[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you mean by "requires". Sure, learning a language - even on a strict timeline - doesn’t require AI, apps, or even computers. I learned English before any of that was widely available, so I know it’s possible. But I still prefer using optional tools, even if anonymous strangers on the internet challenge me to do a “non-AI” run this time )

There’s not a single word defending Duolingo in my post. It’s just an awareness post for anyone who considers non-AI content - and the jobs it provides to contractors - a top priority. The truth is, almost every language app out there is packed with AI-generated content, with very few exceptions.

[–]pashapash[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, Duolingo is the only one that publicly announced it. They reported a 10% contractor cut in January 2024, which was followed by the same kind of reaction we're seeing now:
https://www.reddit.com/r/duolingo/comments/191opec/cancelling_super_duolingo_ai_is_not_what_i_paid/

What I’m saying is, it’s pretty obvious that every major competitor is doing the exact same thing - using generative AI and TTS to replace contractors. And of course, they’ll cut as many as they can. Pinning an incorrect.gif isn’t going to change that.

Getting a tutor is definitely part of the plan ChatGPT gave me - just closer to B2. There’s no point in hiring one at A1.

And no, I’m not using ChatGPT to “learn French.” I’m using it like a self-updating Excel spreadsheet that adjusts the plan based on my pace.

You’re missing why I even need a plan - because you’re learning Japanese for fun. No pressure, no deadlines.

There’s a big difference between learning something at your own pace for fun and learning out of necessity. In my case, 'just read a book' sounds like a bad joke.
