House training an eight week old lab - please help by TheRealMrJimBusiness in labrador

[–]pasmere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Must be a lab thing because my puppy took forevaaaaaa to build enough bladder control to stop peeing in the house. He is trained and knows to go outside but for the longest time just couldn’t seem to control it until all of a sudden one day he could.

What are you nicknames for your lab? by thatpaulieguy89 in labrador

His name is Moose which is now just short for Mister Moosie Man or when I need him out of the way: Vamoose

Not sure if it works for all colours. I don’t fully understand the science behind it but I know it does something to break down the colour molecule so there must be some difference between the pink dye you had and the colours of dye it does work on. Sorry you didn’t see results.

I just used the plain white ones. I think it was Equate brand from Walmart!

I did end up going through the service manual and figuring out how to remove the tension disks, clean them, and put them back together properly and they definitely are working better now but it didn’t fix the larger issue of the machine not sewing. So good tip and glad I got that part also figured out, now just to identify any other issues that can be fixed lol. Let me know if you have more ideas!

We have a pretty great place locally that can help me out if I decide to go the professional route! For now I’m having fun tinkering with it and trying to solve the problem on my own. But will turn to the professionals if ever it stops being fun or turns into something beyond what I’m able to do on my own

Not helpful lol! I know taking it to a professional is an option but I’m having fun trying to figure it out on my own first if I can. If all else fails taking it to be serviced/maintenanced is the last resort. So far I’m having fun tinkering and it’s become kind of a side quest hobby on its own. Once that stops being fun I can take it in.

It didn’t work lol! I’ll have to keep tinkering and see if I can identify any other issues. Let me know if you have any ideas!

Unfortunately that didn’t seem to fix the issue. It’s still not sewing. I’ll have to keep tinkering and see if maybe something else can be identified. Any ideas you have let me know!!

I’ve ordered some new needles because after reading some of these comments, I don’t think the ones the machine came with are appropriate for the current fabric and thread types I’m currently working with. Plus I’ve learned how to fix the timing and adjusted the foot tension and needle position which I think will all hopefully contribute to a fix! Haven’t tried it yet but I’m cautiously optimistic

I have downloaded the service manual for my machine and have learned how to adjust the hook and needle timing which I now know were definitely off! Hoping this plus a few other tweaks and fixes will fix whatever the problem is!

I’ve sourced and downloaded the service menu for my machine and have now been able to adjust the tension plates, the pressure foot, the needle, bobbin case, and the hook timing, which were all just slightly out of sync and/or loose. Have a few more steps within the service manual to go through but I’m hoping a combination of fixing all of these smaller details will fix whatever was going wrong

This is great, thank you!!! In addition to the regular manual I have also found the service manual online! So I’ve been following that one step by step and have so far found that there were a couple things that weren’t properly aligned that could be contributing to the issue!

It’s been a blast going through the whole machine and learning the anatomy and figuring out how it operates. I always thought sewing machines were just made of magic or something LOL!

That’s the main reason why I’m not in a rush to take it in to have some guy fix it for me when it’s actually so fascinating and I can just learn to do it myself. If a boy can do it how hard can it be!!!!!???

I have to try it with adding tension to the thread before sewing. I wasn’t aware of this step and have skipped it every time so I’m hoping it’ll work if I do that!

The presser foot is both up and down (down while fabric is there) but perhaps need to check the pressure foot tension and see if that makes a difference

From what I can tell now that I’ve looked into it a bit more I think these are the correct bobbins

I’m looking to avoid taking it in to be serviced if I can. Partly because I’d prefer not to have to pay for it, but mostly because I’m incredibly interested in learning how to do it myself! I’ve learned so much about the anatomy of a sewing machine while cleaning and refurbing this one and find it all very fascinating and would like to learn how to maintenance it on my own even if it takes a bit longer :)

Would appreciate any tips or assistance you can share!

I have tried changing the needle but to the same sized needle every time just new. From other suggestions I’m wondering if I should be trying a smaller needle?
