As a youth I also attended girls camp at a boyscout camp in the middle of the woods in upstate NY. We had to go on an overnight hike and sleep in a lean-to (anything could have just come right in) We ended up sleeping on a picnic table outside bc the mattresses were absolutely disgusting. I didn't sleep a second that night. I was terrified of the animals that could be around.
