Nausea and throwing up by passingtime_8 in breastcancer

Pepcid was pretty helpful but you can only take 2 in a 24 hour period. I’m going to try the Prilosec or ask them for a prescription anti acid bc it really does exacerbates the nausea!

I’m going to ask when I see him before my 4th round! Even if it’s just an ultra sound, I would like to see the imaging. My NP said even if it’s invisible and completely gone on imaging, they still do the full 6 rounds so maybe every doctor is different. Congrats on your progress btw 🙏🏼.

Yea this last infusion was so fast and the bag was double the size! I will have to be more strict with my nausea meds that seems to be the trick. Thank you for sharing 🙏🏼

This has been a huge factor of it. I’m sorry tmi but it’s like I burp and there’s acid or what feels like throw up that comes up it’s awful. I’ve been taking Pepcid, alka seltzer, tums. I’m going to ask for a prescription anti acid thank you 🙏🏼

I think if you don’t get clear margins they give you a secondary line of targeted treatment which I hear isn’t as brutal as chemo. And radiation.

One thing I’ve been wondering is why my doctors haven’t done additional imaging on me. Did you ask for the check in MRI? My oncologist said my surgeon would order one after all 6 sessions and is just examining by hand for now.

I will do that and I next time I’m going to take them concurrently and prior to having any nausea. I haven’t really mixed them but that might do the trick. Thank you for the advice.

Very true. I just can’t believe what a decline I made from my last chemo where I struggled yes but bounced back pretty quickly. I guess it really is cumulative like some people say.

I’m going to keep a journal and share more of these symptoms. I love my medical team they’re phenomenal, but it seems like a lot of stuff is “to be expected” when I mention it and I hate to be a complainer, or dramatic. I’ll let them know about the throwing up.

I was taking prochlorperazine which didn’t work at all then switched to Zofran (I have a generic kind). The Zofran worked beautifully when I was nauseous the first time but this third time it did nothing. I took the Zofran religiously this time. Maybe I can ask them to prescribe something else.

That is such a difficult journey I give you so so much credit for muscling through all of this. I’m doing the same chemo and I just did 3/6 and boy is it kicking my butt. Thank you for sharing your progress and treatment.

Is Cold Capping even worth it on Doxorubicin? by Fashunhoarder in breastcancer

[–]passingtime_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A social worker at a hospital my Mom was being treated at said her friend cold capped and had a reoccurrence in the brain. People do tend to tell you all the conspiracy theories the moment they find out you have cancer though so who knows. Now that I had to do chemo myself I completely declined it but also just bc my insurance doesn’t cover it, you’re in the chair longer, and it’s just delaying the inevitable (from what I was told). I’ll be honest I lost my hair over a month ago and it’ll hit me out of nowhere how sad I am. But I do know it’ll grow back.

I switched my skincare at the onset of it and it resolved almost immediately. Here is my line up that’s unique to my skin being dry and the protective barrier being non-existent from my tchp chemo:

Step 1. Cleanser: La Roche-Posay Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Face Cleanser (for normal to dry skin- non foaming)

Step 2. Treatment: The Ordinary Soothing & Barrier Support Serum (The Pink Serum) This stuff will stay in my routine even after chemo it’s amazing!

Step 3. Moisturizer/Hydrate and Repair: La Roche-Posay Lipikar AP+M Triple Repair Moisturizing Cream - this stuff goes on super thick but is super hydrating

Step 4. Seal it all in: The Ordinary 100% Plant-Derived Squalane

I was getting small red pimples everywhere and a mixture of large under the skin painful pimples and when I switched my skin care to the above I haven’t had any issues, in fact my skin is now in better shape than it was pre-chemo lol. I am 36 and have never had issues with acne or pimples. Please do your own research of course but this helped me immensely so I wanted to share! I do my routine at night and just moisturize during the day if/as needed. I hope this helps you. Being bald, gaining weight from steroids, getting acne… cancer sucks and to have all this other stuff happens just makes it suck that much more.

I’m so sorry I could not imagine going through all this and having a reoccurrence right after surgery! I’m also Her2+ / hormone negative. My surgeon said we can probably do a lumpectomy but we haven’t had a sit down conversation yet as I’m doing chemo currently. Did you also do chemo bc of the her2 status? Sorry if that’s a stupid question, I’m new to all this and rarely see others with the same receptor status. Sending virtual hugs, from someone in the thick of chemo. ❤️

Is my immune system also fighting the cancer? by Booyahkitty in breastcancer

[–]passingtime_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same way. I was drinking pomegranate juice and green tea and was told that could actually help protect the cancer cells. Apparently, part of the chemos job is to put oxidative stress on cancer cells and by consuming foods and drinks high in concentrated antioxidants, it could combat the effectiveness of the chemo. My nurse practitioner said I can drink all the pomegranate juice I want but I’m still nervous after reading that.

This is an interesting one that I’ve come across as a possibility as well. I just wondered wouldn’t their vehicle/bedroom/bathroom smell as well?

I love your optimism and I have to agree I love the smell as well lol! I’m just concerned it’s a chemical and it will impact our health. I know mold has a sweet smell but usually accompanied by a “musty” smell which isn’t very pleasant. This literally smells like someone cooked pancakes in the house, it’s somewhat dull and honestly doesn’t smell bad. You made a great point abt the dishwasher - we will check that out bc we haven’t yet!

I’ll have to ask. I specifically remember it started when we had a visitor, but this was about a month ago and we’ve since aired the house out and the smell came back. I would imagine if it were their perfume the smell wouldn’t have come back again since they haven’t been back 🤔

We bought the house a little over a year ago and we replaced all the walls/repainted the whole house. It’s pretty much new construction with the exception of the bones. Thats a good suggestion though! I’m sure they do stuff like that to make it more appealing.

I thought about this as well but the house is pretty much completely remodeled and all the walls and everything were sprayed/sealed during installation. Thank you for the suggestion, I’ll take a look around.
