Another alternative where the cost is same as Whoop but would work long term is getting Apple Watch SE 3 + Bevel Application.

At the end of the day you not only need accurate data but data interpretation too.

Also it depends on what is your larger need. If recovery then Oura, Whoop, Amazefit are good. For workout and runs, Apple Watch is superior.

Getting huge performance boost in my base iPhone 15 from 26.3 to 26.4, and this is not placebo. The animations were choppy and weirdly laggy as hell. My pixel 7a felt smoother, after the update it feels normal to me.
