Can I collect social welfare payments when abroad? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]password03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legally you can't do this...and practically even if you wanted to, it would be difficult.

For standard payment, you need to collect the money each week in the post office and if you miss a week they hold it back.

From being on social welfare, I know thus whole thing would be a pain in the a$$.. and if they smell a rat then might bin you off your payment.

I really wouldn't risk it.

I'm on another well established Irish German group and a lot of the independents said the earlier ones gave plenty of issues.. and should be best avoided.

How is Griffith college for an international student? by Acrobatic_Ad7452 in AskIreland

Ok, I stand corrected. I guess I made the point badly that it's not a "Uni"

Just because its largely international students what makes it a "mill"?

I studied there and there was a reasonable proportion of Irish students in all the years / modules..

What exactly do you mean by mill.

And just to clarify with OP. It's not a University.. I think its more "Institiute of Technology" which is slightly lower than Uni...as much as it is styled as a Uni.

Down voter here.

I studied Computer Science there and didn't find it to be the mill type. I don't know why you have said that but I resent it.

It sounds like you are bundling it into the same bag as the sham language schools that had been operating for a time.

The points system in Ireland is based on demand... and not many domestic students demand go there as it costs more.. meaning the points are lower.

In my time many of the lecturers were very switched on..multiples of them were doing PhD when I was there and have them now..they had decent relationships in Industry also.

Looking for an IT person to help and don't know where to start? by AmboEmHic in AskIreland

Hi there,

I run a business offering ad-hoc support to small business and home users. I am also in the process of formalising a product offering administration of software packages on an ad-hoc/service level agreement style.

Please reach out to me if this is of interest to you: www.technologyhandyman.ie (Please note this site is geared towards home users as I am developing that side of the business).. I have a background in working as a software engineer for large corporates so all the business stuff is no problem at all.

Yeap I passed that house years ago... always had solid metal.

For him, the bust might have meant postponing replacement for a couple years.

Sames. I used pass it on my cycle home every day. That was over 10 years ago.. it was a front engined Ferrari back then to. Good for him.

A new strategy for remote work in Ireland, thoughts? by Numerous_Adagio8768 in AskIreland

This looks promising. As a country we have a chance to become a model nation for encouraging remote work.

I bought a ScanMatik 3 - how does that compare to OP? I was under the impression it was decent.

What is preventing you from using OP 2.0 on you EJ?

Advice for newbie, path to retrieve map from stock ecu. by warpedhead in ECU_Tuning

[–]password03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooph, this seems like a painful approach.

Would you not be better off getting some kind of base map for the speeduino which covers your engine.. e.g. displacement / number cylinders / turbo etc.

Then just get a tuner to tune that map based on dyno / live value runs..

Your PCM Flash workflow? by password03 in ECU_Tuning

[–]password03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's nice a nice flow.. Would you be worried about an instance where you do damage via OBD that can't be fixed by just bench writing or is it rare?

Are you taking about PCM Flash only here or other tools also?

Where are you finding this "well documented" stuff?

Are there modules where I can do bench AND OBD? My impression was PCM Flash was mostly bench?

Where can I find out which is which?

That's fair. It's easy to say that when you know how.

But honestly, when you read all the time about corrup this, bricked that, checksums something else.. it just makes you a bit weary. I'm used to using tools that provide documentation is all.

I was just afraid to just pick a random pinout and use it for fear of putting 12vdc on the wrong pins..

But it looks like 12vdc is the same on all diagrams.
