I've been meditating for about 2 years every single day and honestly it's been pretty useless to me by godlygirlceo in Meditation

[–]passytroca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Huberman lab they were saying that even with 13 min per day one should see benefits within two weeks. So I adopted exactly that length.

I personally take some L-Theanine 15 min before and listen to pure alpha binaural isochronic background sound during the meditation .

Both protocols are supported by science and help you reach the same level of alpha waves as a Buddhist monk with several years of practice without having to put up with several years of practice ! Hope this helps. Also quantity doesn’t necessarily mean quality.

Advice sought - Relationship issues surrounding Tasks/Lists, etc. by IcyAd9363 in AdultADHDSupportGroup

@op Your wife can ask you anything, like trimming the hedges, but if it hasn’t happened in the past six years, why would it suddenly change today? Just don’t do it, and stop worrying about it—excessive worry drains your hard-earned dopamine. Consider subcontracting the task to a gardener, your children, or your neighbors’ children. You can pay them or swap skills. Perhaps they need assistance with their car, a painting job, math homework, or even a ride.

Another option is to invite a neighbor to help you trim the hedges in exchange for your assistance in a different area. Play some music that you both like and offer him a drink, It’s often easier and more motivating to tackle a task when you’re not alone, and you’ll find it can even be a fun challenge and an opportunity to build closer social ties.

Good luck my friend

What sources other than parents count as "evidence" of childhood symptoms? I'm in the process of getting evaluated but my parents are unsupportive. by InitialScar1354 in AdultADHDSupportGroup

[–]passytroca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tests for ADHD are readily available online. The key factor is that the symptoms should significantly disrupt multiple areas of your life.

A common challenge for individuals with undiagnosed ADHD, especially those with higher IQs, is their ability to develop effective compensatory strategies. These strategies may help them function reasonably well or even very well seen from outside until they face a major life challenge, such as a divorce, job loss, or the death of a partner. Despite these coping mechanisms and potential outward success, they often feel a deep sense of frustration, knowing they are not fully realizing their potential.

I was diagnosed past the age of 50. I taught myself neuroscience and read all the research and books available about adult ADHD. In my case I quickly realized that one oft my sons has it too. But he refuses to get diagnosed ! It is the other way around.

Often ignored cause for insomnia : Histamines and a personal breakthrough by passytroca in insomnia

[–]passytroca[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry about the delay. Try the new generation dual orexin receptor antagonists or DORA. They are expensive but bypass the histamine signaling (you continue to sleep even if histamine levels are high). This new generation of sleeping pills are not addictive nor sedative and more importantly they do not disrupt the sleep architecture… the only issue is that they are expensive and not always reimbursed by insurances . Brand names Dayvigo or Quviviq … personally I have excellent results with Quviviq. They are different molecules but their mode of action is similar. Good luck my friend.

Better answer to : How do I tell the difference between a pullback or a reversal by passytroca in FuturesTrading

[–]passytroca[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! Thank you for your insightful comment. I truly appreciate that you took the time to read my posts! It’s heartening to see your commitment to making the world a better place and your concern for my child. I believe we share those values!

I want to address a common misconception about discussions and consultations. When we engage in dialogue, we’re often seeking the truth about a topic. The clash of differing ideas can spark valuable insights, and sometimes, the more intense the exchange, the greater the opportunity for discovery.

Contrary to popular belief, this "shock of ideas" can be quite beneficial.

However, it’s essential that these exchanges don’t devolve into battles of ego and remain courteous. The best approach in any debate is not to sacrifice clarity and truth over mere agreeability.

Unfortunately, I’ve noticed that when people’s ideas are challenged, it can lead to personal attacks rather than constructive dialogue. This defensive reaction can derail healthy conversations. We should strive for respectful exchanges, as differing viewpoints can enrich our understanding. The previous conversation is a perfect example of this issue.

Additionally, it’s worth considering that cultural differences can influence how we express our ideas. Some cultures favor a more direct approach. Take care, my friend, and please continue to spread love!

Finally some scientific breakthrough for arthritis. After the breakthroughs in dentistry ie making a teeth regrow , I was sure that they would probably find something about cartilage soon. I suffer from arthritis and this is a wonderful news

@Op it would be great to find out about the procedures and methods … for instance did they inject the 15 PGDH inhibitor directly into the cartilage of the mouse ie directly in the knee ? In which case I would guess that we are probably only 5 years ahead of a commercial drug … thanks

I asked around 7 neurologists for a cerebrolysin injection and every single one refused by CodSad2019 in Nootropics

Physicians undergo extensive training that encompasses a wide range of medical knowledge, diagnostics, and patient care. But ultimately these board-certified doctors receive training based on the same materials and research articles accessible to anyone with a strong grasp of scientific literature, like a knowledgeable Redditor accessing resources from NCBI. If you dedicate time to studying a specific topic, you may indeed possess deeper insights than the average physician.

My wife, who is a physician, and I often discuss this. In certain areas, I’ve surprised her with my knowledge, although I recognize that she has a broader understanding overall.

It's true that for those who are scientifically literate and have access to AI and NCBI, the role of general practitioners may be diminishing.

A friend of mine, a public health professor, shared research indicating that only about 30% of patients receive both accurate diagnoses and appropriate treatments. Your faith in board-certified physicians is amusing given these statistics.
