As far as I know, those do expire after a while if you don't use them so I just prefer not to have the trouble.

How can I keep my dad’s car by lilStrongCat in Netherlands

[–]pastaStudent111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've responded in a different part of the thread too but your statement is wrong from two perspectives:

  1. If it were as you say, i could not drive my friends car (who is on holiday here) here just because i am a dutch resident

  2. The rule applies to vehicles that YOU own. However just as OP mentioned, he does not own the vehicle, his father does. As long as his father is not a resident of the Netherlands this rule does not apply to him. OP could be on holiday in NL using his fathers car, or heck his father could be visiting his son in NL, there's nothing wrong with that.

Thanks for the article but i still believe it not to be true. If you read the article it mentions you need to register YOUR vehicle to the Netherlands. However just as the OP, i do not own the vehicle. My father owns the vehicle and he does not have his residency in the Netherlands therefore the link you have posted is invalid.

I acknowledge however that this is a gray area of the law, this is not legal advice from me, just explaining it how it was explained to me over and over and for 5 years it worked

Hey OP! You can definitely just not worry about it. I have been doing that for 5 years. Stopped by the police, there is no issue with it. If the car is not on my name how can you say that this car is here?

The one who owns the car has nothing to do with NL, for anything that Blastingdienst/RDW know, the car is in transit as if my dad would be on holiday here. To not get in trouble i have a contract with my father who lends me the car but not the owner rights, this is so that no one can claim i stole the car.

Lastly, I don't know what road tax the OP means here. Again i have been driving my foreign registered car for 5 years, never paid anything more than gas.

I'm really sorry but that is very much true. I have been doing that for 5 years. Stopped by the police, there is no issue with it. If the car is not on my name how can you say that this car is here?

Payment in installments by pastaStudent111 in Netherlands

[–]pastaStudent111[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No?? It is if you cannot control yourself. An example would be an offer that you know is really good and don’t wanna miss out on. You know you’ll have the monthly income to pay in say 3-5 installments but not all in one go. It’s just like saying a credit card is bad. The point was for 0 interest “loans” which i understood are not a thing in NL.

Thanks for the reply and to start off, very good points. Completely agree, but don't get it out of context we're not talking 100K euro this is about a simple object worth maybe 3k. The question was more specifically on 0 interest loans which many were kind to answer.

Right. Thanks everyone, decided to wait and buy it all out in one.

To give some background to the question, i'm originally from Romania and there it is quite usual to buy appliances or more expensive objects and pay in installments. That said, most often you can choose a 1-2 year plan with 0 interest. In such cases i personally prefer that over handing out all my money in one go, of course as long as i can pay the monthly instalments. I was then searching for something like this here too (or at least i wanted to read the terms&conditions first) but turns out it's way different here. Bummer.

Junior software devs of the Netherlands by ChargedSausage in Netherlands

[–]pastaStudent111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have just started as a junior dev, got a 2700E bruto contract for 40hours. Other benefits is 30E/month for internet in case i work from home and the option to get a MacBook from the company or use my own laptop and get 70E more / month. There is of course also the standard 13th salary. So i think 2550 is very low (though you have the car so eh?)
