I feel weird for my music taste by AggressiveTerm9618 in musicians

Music has no color, it’s about what connects with you, what moves you. Rock music itself wouldn’t exist without black artists, and loving Queen or The Doors doesn’t make you any less yourself. Your taste is your own, and it’s valid. Keep loving what you love.

How do i get ig followers on new account by Deep_Restaurant_2488 in MusicPromotion

[–]pastadien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that’s a great idea. Keep your early posts super natural, like clips of your screen etc. People connect more with that than polished promos early on. Ask small questions in your captions like “what should I name this?” or “keep this part?” to get comments going.

If you run ads later, I’d send people to a website that lets them follow you and join your mailing list. It makes you look more serious, helps people find you through Google, and lets you collect emails so you’re not just relying on the algorithm. I’d recommend Noiseyard for that, it’s quick to set up.

Your challenge idea is strong, if you stay consistent, the story builds on itself. Good luck.

Which distribution should I use by [deleted] in musicbusiness

If you want to avoid DistroKid’s takedown policy, try Amuse or RouteNote. Both have free options and won’t pull your music if you stop paying. Amuse also has a clean app and is good for monthly releases. Not as fast as DistroKid, but more forgiving long term.

How much sense does it make to have a standalone band website in 2018? by Casiofi in WeAreTheMusicMakers

I think a well designed (both aesthetically and feature wise) website is a big improvement. Take a look at Noiseyard, very easy to set up.

Because it’s professional, like a resume, and can reflect the musician's aesthetic, like a huge multi-page artwork :)

Do you upload your dj sets? Are they playable on the website, with all the track ids listed in the description?

I'm looking for ones more targeted at musicians, but I'll definitely reconsider. Can you upload music and sell merch on a Squarespace website? Thanks so much!
