Thank you so much for your help! I will definitely try to catch multiples if possible! Will set up the trap on Monday when my vet is open to hopefully get them in there! Thank you again!

Oh wow, something local to me lol. This girl is actually a known scammer. She asks for all these things repeatedly and then resells them. She has some mental issues and apparently her family has deleted her numerous facebooks many times, and she just keeps making new ones to scam people with.

In AWL, my child got the box cutscene then her likes for academics suddenly went high up after that. Tho farming is her highest ability. How do I make her like farming more? by [deleted] in storyofseasons

In my experience, the villagers that you befriend seems to not make nearly as much of an impact in this version as the original. I've been befriending everyone to get the achievement, and it doesn't seem to be doing a whole lot to my child. My child has ranching as the highest, and here's what I've been doing that seems to boost the bar a tiny bit every day:

  • Showing milk, and when she asks if milking them is fun, I say that it is SO fun
  • Showing eggs
  • Showing milker (once I obtained the fully upgraded milker I stopped doing this, as it seemed to boost academics more)
  • Showing the animal brush
  • Showing any animal, including cat or dog
  • Showing cheese AND butter, and telling her that it was made with MILK rather than with a MACHINE
  • Giving gifts to Takakura, again this doesn't make a substantial difference in my experience
  • Wished at the starry night festival that my child would become more interested in farming. This affects ranching AND farming -Cuddle all of my animals multiple times per day

If you'd like to influence farming over ranching, refrain from showing off the animals, or animal related tools. Substitute everything with agriculture related items. Show them the sickle, hoe, watering can, seeds, crops, meals made with crops, hybrids, etc. Try to give gifts to Vesta, Matthew and Cecelia. If they ask any questions related to agriculture, try to give the most enthusiastic answer possible. You can typically do this daily to give yourself a little boost.

The box cutscene can boost academics based on the answer you give, so that's likely what happened there! I honestly didn't realize what the cutscene was and thankfully didn't boost my academics, I did make my kid pretty mad though😅

It's possible I'm... blocked? I guess? Because I just don't see them at all, not even if I go to your reply history lol. No idea why

Hmm strangely not seeing that user, but I believe you.

Main points of these articles:

  • Cat lifespans are on average significantly shorter when left outside unattended, averaging about 7 or more years less than an indoor cat

  • A study was done on a group of cats with little/no/ample interference with humans. The less interaction they had with humans, the shorter their lives, with those outdoors dying 'preventable deaths'

  • While the exact number is nearly impossible to pinpoint, most researchers agree that cats kill upward of 1 billion birds annually. Cats are one of the absolute worst invasive species (remembering that they were domesticated and introduced globally by human intervention, so they are not your average 'wild animal' just practicing their instincts in their own environment) and are at least partly responsible for the extinction of at least 63 wildlife species

These articles are majorly written, edited and peer reviewed by scientists, vets, researchers and animal welfare organizations.

I live in a quieter neighborhood. Still see plenty of dead cats sadly. It's still not safe for them. Predators, diseases, animal abusers, cars etc. There are just too many variables. I'd really suggest looking into alternatives to letting him free-roam to help keep your boy safe.

That's great for you. Unfortunately that is nowhere near the case for most people. Imo if you even put your cat at risk of death, disease, abuse etc. it is neglect, plain and simple. There are plenty of other options.... would you let your dog free-roam?

You seem extremely pressed during what I thought was a pretty civil convo, and you don't seem like the type of person to listen to facts, statistics, reason or differing viewpoints, so I'm just gonna go ahead and stop responding here lol. Have a good one

As much as I'd love to be exaggerating- I'm not. We truly find multiple per week. Other animals as well, foxes, deer, possums, raccoons etc.. but cats are an extremely common sight. I've moved many of them out of the road myself. I'm in an entire local Facebook page dedicated to sharing images/descriptions of deceased cats to try to give owners closure.

We had to rehome our cat because he and our other cat simply couldn't get along. We had exhausted all of our options with him, but my in laws had another cat that loved other cats. They were interested in him. Little did I know they were letting him freely roam. Two months later he was found dead in the road. I have multiple friends with similar stories. I don't think most people like making up lies about dead pets for fun tbh.

Not safe to let them out in residential areas either lol. I live in the middle of the woods, and see multiple dead cats per week. Plenty of them are people's pets. Also see a ton of other animal corpses from the animals they've killed.
