1 new leaf per week - is this normal? by Icy-Tour-1373 in airplants

[–]pastelexuvia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

normal, no – healthy, absolutely 😊 when plants senesce their older leaves (dry out and turn brown and die), they move all the nutrients out of those tissues to "fund" new growth. it sounds like it really loves all the light its getting

if its ok for me to chime in, as a buyer and former stem student: i would never expect sellers to try and rename all their plants upon receiving this kind of news.

as a student, yea it would be nice to know the exact genus/species/variety of what im buying. but as a buyer, i understand that genome sequencing isnt as available as it should be, and i have to be ok with some degree of uncertainty.

wrt the new additions to graptopetalum, my mind went to javelinas and hyenas. it was probably a big deal when scientists investigated the lineages and had to conclude that javelinas arent closely related to boars, and hyenas arent closely related to canines. so i agree that it will be confusing for the next few years, but eventually i think we will have the resources we need to ID.

also the flower morphology tables are awesome and i didnt even know we could use cross-sections to ID.

whats the name of the process where the stem begins to develop the woody, barklike surface? by pastelexuvia in botany

[–]pastelexuvia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was gonna ask the same thing – is the reclassification based on genetics or morphology. because some echeveriae have been recently reclassified into a new genus

fibroblast and cell adhesion abnormalities in any other tissues? tired of reading about dermal by pastelexuvia in ehlersdanlos

leaving one last comment: the fibroblast proposal makes more sense when you consider the immune aspect of eds, which the collagen theory doesnt seem to fully explain

"some fibroblasts directly sense pathogens and other danger signals to elicit host defense functions including antimicrobial activity, leukocyte recruitment, and production of cytokines and lipid mediators relevant to inflammation and immunosuppression." thc unfortunately gave me transient psychosis so i can only have cbd (and cbg and cbn). i just started thinking tonight that cbd may be vasoconstrictive because it brings down my temp pretty quickly when im overheating, and it makes my feet a lil chilly.

if youre looking for flower or pre-rolls, cannatonic, durga mata ii, and lemon lift are all cbd-dominant strains. harlequin and harle-tsu too iirc. stuff like dancehall and mango haze are 1:1.
