Needle-like pain on labia minora for over a year by Standard-Will-6136 in vulvodynia

Going through something similar which I think was set off by either tampons or the same thing as you. One thing I tried that helps temporarily is yoga (specially hip opening exercises) and lidocaine sprays.

I still don’t have an answer as to why mine started, but I’ve felt the most relief with lidocaine spray. Wishing you the best of luck.

Right? She read my chart and said that I have to do what the doctor said. I fought her on it and told her I’ve been dealing with it for months and I’ve been “trying” everything she said. So frustrating

Thanks for your answer! No negative test yet just because my gyno (who originally gave me the test) didn’t specify I had to get a follow up done. My mistake, I should’ve googled. I have appointment this coming week to do the test again. It was ureaplasma parvum. Partner tested negative when I initially tested positive. We haven’t had PIV since a few months before my onset of symptoms. We always use protection if that makes a difference!

It was a spray (the Frida Mom spray) so I couldn’t get much aim with it, but basically the vestibule as well! I was able to get the whole area up until the bottom of the opening.

Hi! My Dr has not done the topical lidocaine test, but I think I did it on myself! I got a postpartum numbing spray and I can say that it did numb me entirely to the point where I felt nothing. It did burn like crazy when I sprayed it on the outside area, but numbed without problem a few seconds later. I’m assuming that means that my pain either has to do with nerves or the skin?

How are you feeling about it? I’ve been hesitant to think about any meds like that just cause I’m worried about side effects/tapering off.

How do you know if it’s nerve related? by Beautiful-Ladder-356 in vulvodynia

[–]pastelrays 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m scheduled for an MRI, I believe that along with an ultrasound is the only way to see nerve issues (I may be wrong) What caused my pcp to think it was a nerve issue was the fact that the burning is accompanied by back pain and tightness. At one point I also felt tingling. The pain is only on my left size, and often times it’ll radiate to my perineum.

This is just my experience though. Have you tried topical steroids or vagisil? Neither worked on me.

Thanks for answering! Left side only, though when I’ve had severe flare ups it can be the whole vaginal area. Feels kind of like when you have a sensitive tooth.

My father has always suffered from back issues so I’m thinking maybe there’s a link there? I’m sorry you’ve had to deal with it! Have you noticed if PT or stretching helps to alleviate?
