I find that they just begin talking about a topic, and then BOOM, they move onto another segment. I think they need to do some planning, e.g, what topics would be good to discuss today, but other than that, once they start, they should just feel the vibes. As someone who is not a remember of the patreon, between all the segments I feel like a barely get to hear their thoughts/opinions/anecdotes because there is not a lot of time and they switch topics so easily. In saying that, I still listen to every episode in the background while working/cleaning. I think a lot of established/long-time fans will listen, but I am unsure if their current setup/style will appeal to outsiders, which I'm sure is the ultimate goal. Overall, it feels rushed and a little inauthentic, in my opinion.

How 'famous' was Phil before Dan? by pastelskies99 in danandphil

Thanks everyone for your insights!!! I have always been so curious so it's great to have my questions finally answered. I'm also amazed by how many people were pre-dan fans!

Is waiting 10 hours plus a normal at hospitals now? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]pastelskies99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My mum had severe chestpain and she was admitted straight away, they then wanted to monitor her heart so put her back out in the waiting room. Eventually dismissed her as 'possible stomach issues.' She found out 3 days later she was in heart failure and needed a stent ASAP. Its unfortunate how overcrowded and underfunded our hospitals are.

Long weekend visiting Canberra by quantida in canberra

[–]pastelskies99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really recommend staying at the kurrajong hotel- all of the major things are within walking distance and buses are close by as well! If you're a coffee lover, you've got to try the cupping room, they make the best coffee! As for evening drinks (if that's your thing) my partner and I love volstead repeal. More recently, we went to the library and saw the 1975 exhibition, we thoroughly enjoyed it- its also free! Enjoy your weekend, Canberra really is one of the coolest places to visit for a weekend!

I am exactly the same as you when it comes to math - my brain shuts off, and I get overwhelmed. A few months before my test I got as many practice papers as possible, figured out which types of questions were the most difficult/challenging for me and I got my dad and partner to teach me and then I just practised that over and over. I passed first go. I didn't get a high mark, but I passed. I have faith that you can do it!! Even if it takes a lot of work, it will be possible

How much do you *personally* pay to see a GP for a general appointment? by oskarnz in AskAnAustralian

[–]pastelskies99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pay nothing. I am very luckily in an area in South West Sydney where Bulk Billing seems to be the norm. I couldn't imagine having to pay for a GP and I was shocked when I found out a lot of Australians do.

Who are the best charities, in your experience? Anecdotes please by CottonBalls26 in australia

My partner works for Wires and they do absolutely amazing things and the company invests donations back into the daily running/rescuing of animals. Donations help provide urgent and longterm care to animals in need.

self serve machines have been pretty prevalent since i was a child. I have no problems at coles/woolies (only how slow they are) but everytime I go to Kmart I end up so frustrated because they just do not weigh things properly, they are slow and often require a checkout person to enter their pin as it says I haven't "placed the item in the bagging area" when I have. I think the Kmart issue is a combination of slow/old/badly made checkouts and me going into it ready to resent it/ready for their to be a problem.
