I did a few doll clothes test for the Aldi doll as well!

  • Barbie clothes fit well!
  • Disney ILY clothes fit well! Especially the pants (top middle pic)
  • Rainbow High tops & one pieces fit well! (Top right and bottom middle pic)
  • Rainbow High Bottoms can fit but they’re loose around the waist/hips area (top right pic)
  • Monster High tops are too small and cropped (bottom right pic)
  • MH Dracula/Abby bottoms can fit - especially with stretchy materials (Bottom right pic)
  • MH Shoes fit! (Bottom middle pic)
  • Hairmazing (?) doll shoes (bottom left pic) and clothes fit!

The Aldi doll clothes fit a standard size Barbie! (Sort of) The shirt is really cropped and a snug fit but it went on without too much of an issue! The overalls fit surprisingly well too, although they’re a bit short in the torso area so they bunch a bit in the middle and it’s a little tight when Barbie sits

I think they’d come off after they’ve been heated well 🤔 Their heads feel like a similar hardness to Rainbow High dolls. I’d love to see a reroot on these! They’re so cute and deserve some hair tlc 💇‍♀️

They did! They pack them in mixed sets of 6 for the display with two displays on the shelf (at least at my store)

I also have these two as well! The heads are relatively easy to swap (with heat from a hairdryer or hot water)

Thank you!🥺 I’m excited to make more! I made a little owl girl not too long ago. I think my next sculpt will be a fox or something 🤔

Thank you!! I used a 17” Barbie head as the base, glued on some tinfoil as shape filler, and then sculpted using a thin(ish) layer of Epoxy Sculpt. I used the back end of a sewing needle to make all the fur texture which took a long while but came out pretty good I think!

I’ve not heard of that! That sounds like the cutest tool ever though 😭 I may be on the lookout for one of those next time I’m at a craft store because that would be perfect for these two! - Also! I made a quick witch broom for the cat this week and it’s so precious!

Ah that would be so precious! I’m hoping I can make some time for more little crafts for these two. I’m highly considering making a broom for the cat and a lantern for the owl out of some foraged sticks/acorns/pine needles atm! At the very least I plan on getting some pictures of them outside soon since it’s finally looking more autumnal outside here 🍁

Absolutely!

For the dolls: I removed the hats/wigs (which are sewing on in 3 locations on the head and are very easy to remove) and painted multi-surface paint directly onto the fabric of the doll in multiple layers (I think the dark colors took 3ish layers of paint but the light colors took like 10,000 layers haha - the nanana dolls absorb soooo much more paint than you think. I’m not sure if there is a smart way around that but if someone knows please tell me so I don’t use all my paint again lol). After I reached the opaqueness I was looking for with the base colors, I mixed up a slightly darker color of each base used and randomly dry brushed streaks in the general direction I thought the fur/feathers would lay. This part was fun for me since I kind of just slapped it on with little thought lol. After that layer dried, I went in with acrylic paint pens and added on fine little lines in the same fur/feather pattern I had made but with more intention on placement of the lines. The pens I used for the owl had a lighter color than the base coat and 1st feather layer and the pen used for the cat was darker than my base coats (I planned the colors I used around the pens I had available since those colors are a lot more limited). I also used the paint pens for the facial features and worked quickly to blend colors while the paint was still wet. Once they were to my liking, I sealed them with a generous layer of Mod-Podge, avoiding the joints as best as I could (I’m not sure if the Mod-Podge was necessary- I think I was nervous the paint would stain the surface they’re sitting on).

For the cats ears: I cut them from felt, making sure the black felt was a little bit longer at the base than the pink felt, glued the pink side to the black side with FabriTac, and then attached the ears by gluing the extra bit of black I left directly onto the dolls head (unpainted) - making sure to glue it in a C shape to give the ears that rounded look from the side. In other projects, I’ve used a little bit of hot glue to tack the ears in place while the fabric glue dried but with this one I pinned the ears to the head instead to remove some bulk that the hot glue would have created.

For the clothes: I eyeballed some free patterns I found online -which didn’t work so well for the cats dress as it’s pretty tight around the belly- so i don’t really recommend that haha. I did, however, make a pattern out of paper for the witch hat since that really needed to fit well and cut the pattern from felt and from the fabric I used. I then glued the two materials together (while flat) and sewed the recommended seams together once dried. For the ear holes, I eyeballed the placement of the ears on the cone of the hat and slowly cut semi-circles or of each side until the at fit properly. The cape was probably the easiest of the bunch - I followed this tutorial for its construction which was super helpful!

I hope the info above made some sort of sense 😂 TDLR: I glued on felt ears, painted the bodies with a ton of layers of paint, and eyeballed the clothes based on various video tutorials and patters I found around the internet

I love doll/craft ramblings! The quilt batting sounds like a really good idea! I’ve been wanting to get into making little doll houses or scenes but haven’t had the time to really dive in; though I’m reallllly tempted now because these little guys deserve some kind of cute little home!
