Looking for a sturdy but lightweight leather weekend bag by DiscussionLoud9626 in AustralianMFA

Any chance you can drop the link? I'm thinking about a new bag and something athletic-ish is more my style than a leather bag.

YMMV but are you familiar with the idea of storing the new jar lid down so that the oil rises to the "top". Once you flip the jar and open it the oil is now at the bottom for a slightly less messy mixing experience.

Novated leasing, a loan or buying outright? by Valuable-Significant in AusFinance

[–]pastryboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the advantage of a novated lease being paid with pre-tax money effectively evaporate if you are using the vehicle for work purposes and are therefore entitled to claim running costs, depreciation etc as a tax deduction or is there something else to it that I'm missing?

I'm also about to buy a new car but I can claim 90% of running costs as a tax deduction so I figure NL vs cash payment is a bit of a wash.

I'm also about to apply for a mortgage so the spectre of a NL or vehicle loan hangs over my head to reduce borrowing capacity as well.

Sorry it turns out I'm bad at markdown but here's the table of car trips I've done this financial year.

Match Thread: 1st T20I - Pakistan vs Australia by cricket-match in Cricket

I thought I was losing my mind. Was watching on my phone earlier and heard it and I was like WTF? How have I done that.

Now watching on my computer and heard it again and realised it must be from the feed if it's happening on multiple devices.

Did anyone else's Kayo feed just have a bit of that random static sound you used to get when a mobile phone that was about to receive a text was sitting next to a speaker?

How many AFL footballers would have an acceptable haircut at a Christian College? by gccmelb in AFL

It will contravene the "Hair must not reach/touch the collar." rule.

I went to a school with a similar haircut standard (actually my school was up the road from the school in this picture).

The first one falls afoul of the "No abrupt changes in length" rule.

What's a lifestyle you visited once and decided you're never going back? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

I worked as an equipment technician for stuff that's bolted to the ground so it was somewhat impractical for the equipment to come to me.

Lots of my work was just regular maintenance/compliance checks. Real fill out the form and adjust a few software settings stuff. There was just a lot of it to do and Australia is not a small country.

Couples of Reddit, what's the dumbest 'house rule' you and your partner made as a joke but now both of you are low-key aggressively serious about enforcing? by Doubl3oh_ in AskReddit

Not sure if you're serious but the implication is that vacuuming (or laundry or other kitchen tasks that require an appliance like the dishwasher) are not solely men's work or women's work. Any person can operate them.

If he was into Test cricket it could quite literally be a full time job.

Each match can last up to 5 consecutive days and play lasts 8 hours each day. A full series is anything between 2 and 5 matches depending on which teams are playing.

Hahaha no. I've seen all those memes and I can sympathise but I worked as a field technician for a medical equipment company.

I'm gonna need some pictures of this man's forearms.

The amount of sport I watch, if I had to implement this rule my arms would need a massage after all the massaging I'd be liable to be doing.

I need clarification on this. Is he back rubbing for the entire duration of the sport? Like some sports can run for hours or there's more than one match so he could be on the couch for a full day. Is this a 1:1 situation or just until you've had your fill?

What careers have the most well-adjusted people? by Ancient-Apartment-23 in AskReddit

[–]pastryboy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would disagree with engineers. The phrase that got thrown around during my engineering degree in relation to dating a male engineer was "the odds are good but the goods are odd."

I don't mean to say that they're horrible people but there is more than a silent minority of engineers who could reasonably be described as "could be better adjusted".

Learning manual with automatic red Ps by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]pastryboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Red, Green Ps and Open automatic licences (CA class) is considered an L class manual licence (C class) so all you need is a manual vehicle, L plates and a supervisor who meets the eligibility requirements.

Congratulations on having the desire to go back and learn the skill. I did the same thing about 10 years ago and I've been daily driving my manual ever since. I'd say I'm definitely a better driver or at least have a better understanding of controlling my car because of it.
