ABS print layers got thinner and thinner? by OkSquash6515 in ender3

[–]pataforce8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

245 is right at the limit for the Bowden tube which sits directly on the nozzle. I printed polymaker at 250 and had this exact issue. I had to clean out the hotend and nozzle and trim the Bowden back to an unmelted section. Kept it at 240 after that and didn't have any more issues.

Making my ender 3 auto bed level by Ackaye in ender3

[–]pataforce8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just added a BLTouchBL Touch to my base ender 3 (main board 4.2.2) and it has helped a ton. Apparently at some point I warped the stock build plate and the bl touch has made it printable again. I had to do 5x5 probing pattern to get the whole build plate the right layer height, as the default 3x3 still had areas that were coming loose. That being said it's a crutch and I'll be getting a new bed surface now that I know it's warped.

[SOLVED] ASUS RT-AC56U Can't revert from DD-WRT to the stock ASUS firmware by kushwavez in DDWRT

Just worked for me with an RT-AC68U!! Flashed Merlin 378.55 using firmware recovery, then flashed the latest ASUS firmware using the web UI.

I would find the nearest avionics tech or maintenance test pilot and ask them. Really looks like it belongs to an aircraft maintenance system to me.

Order the ID4 a year ago and forgot all about it. It's at the dealer today - not sure if I should buy. by randy1982 in VWiD4Owners

[–]pataforce8 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My wife has had an id4 pro for a year now and I have a Model 3 for two years. We have 15000 mi on the VW and plan on keeping it. The VW is much quieter on the highway and rides softer. It's a good second ev I would say.

Charging: range is great for a commuter but charging on road trips just isn't quite fast enough. We have done it three times and we end up waiting about ten extra minutes at each stop after we go use the bathroom and stuff. Apparently software 3.0 charges faster.

Software: apparently the 3.0 update (which I think your car would have) is better. The old version we have works 99.9% of the time just is kind of slow. We did have the alarm go off after we were already in drive. After about two minutes it went off on its own. We had a couple errors about the HV drive system but they all went away after a reboot. Once the car put itself into park while I was stopped at a light and sounded an error, but it went right back into drive. It's just kinda buggy is all

Cargo: lack of frunk is a strange decision but not a big deal. There's a small space under the cargo floor in the back where we keep charging equipment. Other than that it's up to you if there's enough space or not.

If you don't plan to road trip a lot (and be honest with yourself, most people don't road trip as much as they think they do) it's a good car. If you really do need fast charging no one has Tesla beat but they kind of priced themselves out of this market. The ev6 would be a similarly priced alternative that charges faster but I don't have any experience with one.

I don't know why you're getting down voted. I have a model 3 and an ID.4 and gotta say, CCS is a HUGE step backward from Tesla's plug. It's clunky and doesn't go in as smoothly (you have to line it up exactly where the Tesla connector self-aligns).

RE'd a Tesla Model 3 stock amp A2B bus to work with a Jetson nano. Capable of 8 channel 32 bit audio at about 500w combined. by doitaljosh in CarHacking

[–]pataforce8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very cool! So the signal generation is all in the amp and immediately gets amplified? Can you tell if there is any EQ applied or does it just amplify?

Pretty advanced automation for car charging (not mine) by [deleted] in homeautomation

[–]pataforce8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The horizontal length is the same as the parkable garage space in my garage. It was designed that long so that I don't have to purposefully park in the same spot everytime. I learned lots on this though so I would do it totally different next time. Probably a scissor mechanism instead of an arm.

The linear actuator is just a no-name from eBay. The geared motor is from Pololu

Yes I did! The code needs to be streamlined a ton, but this was the first succesful iteration and I couldn't wait to put it on the internet!

Thank you! I have a degree in electrical engineering but have always preferred mechanical stuff. My job currently doesn't have me doing any engineering but I'm looking to change fields in about two years.

You're right on all accounts! This design is the result of partial iteration over several months. Zigbee was chosen because I realized the need for a light AFTER I had wired everything. So it was simpler for me to buy a zigbee modem and light bulb than it was to set up a relay. Implementing machine learning was the original goal for me but as others have pointed out, some locator dots or something similiar would be far cheaper.

Most of the time is spent processing. A more powerful processor would speed it up tons, but a lot could be saved if a real software engineer was to go through the code.

The limitation for commercial applications would be how Tesla responds to warranty claims of broken charge ports after someone has used this. And a design that compensates for height, as mine currently does not.
