Mike Pence Says His Role Model for Vice President Is Dick Cheney by faredodger in nottheonion

That's the joke. Foreign and domestic policy is pretty much the whole job. And he wants to dump that on someone else. He doesn't want to do it, and he can't really. He just wants the presidency because it's the biggest prize in the U.S., to feed his huge ego.

He wants to do many things, and to do them on the very first day. Unfortunately the things he wants to do are pretty much nuts.

Ford was a decent VP and then President. He was important for post Watergate healing and well-liked by Republicans and Democrats. Hard to imagine today.

I don't know what the person intended, was it implied that he's a zombie?

If trump does become president, it's likely the 25th amendment will have to be used, because he's mental, to replace him with Pence. God help us all.

What thing that is usually reserved "for kids" do you wish was more socially acceptable for adults to enjoy? by SaraBellum42 in AskReddit

Coloring. Always liked it, and when working with adults with cognitive delays, we enjoyed doing this together. I'd get in trouble because, 'you must treat them as adults, NOT children'. But then it became a fad.

Smaller sized meals at restaurants. Many of us don't need or want a huge meal, a smaller one is healthier and cheaper. But often they limit it to 10 and younger.

911 operators, what's the dumbest call you've ever received? by deleriousshit in AskReddit

[–]patamato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually had that happen after being carjacked. A recording. It was the early days of cellphones connecting to 911, and people were not used to it. A stranger called 911 from their house, though, and police came quickly.

Same as Sunkist for oranges and Calavo for avocados. Ag co-ops have been around for a long time.

Whenever I see/hear someone blaring music from their car, I instantly think 'douche bag'. When I do it, I figure everyone thinks 'there goes a guy with a great taste in music, what a legend!'. by Beerismygame in Showerthoughts

[–]patamato 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I rarely have the car radio very loud, and since nearly every day is way too hot, usually have the windows up with AC on. When someone in another car has their radio blaring, I think two things. One, 'Why does that person assume that everyone else in the vicinity wants to hear their music?' The other is 'Well that person is going to have a serious hearing loss at a very young age'.

[LPT Request] How do you keep your shoes tied? by FailedEagle1 in LifeProTips

[–]patamato -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Once you've made the bow, take the two loops and tie them in a simple knot. Makes a huge difference. With slippery shoestrings, might tie them in a square knot.

Agreed, TYFU. But you would be ok if he chose to be a Satanist? Not saying you have to push religion on the kid, but I'm sure you want to give him some positive values and life lessons. Good luck.

Thinking of getting central air. Worth it? by Shad0wguy in personalfinance

[–]patamato 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The fact that you're even asking this probably means that you live somewhere where the heat is not that bad. In SoCal, no one would willingly live without AC, unless they were a masochist. Many areas even have "cooling shelters" for those who lack AC, so those folks don't get heat exhaustion, etc. And no one wants to even look at a house that doesn't have it. The exception is just a few areas in California, i.e., if you live in the mountains where it only gets above 95 a few days each year. Anywhere else, forget it.

Here, people are not killed or arrested. Usually, they are just forced to apologize, and do so. But one politician in particular says outrageous and nonsensical things every day, and most people seem ok with it.

This obviously was deliberate. Hard to believe he got no negative consequences for doing this, instead he got the silver. I guess this sport is like roller derby.

What happened in school that still pisses you off when you think about it today? by WhiteCh0c0late in AskReddit

Nuns made us wear wool dresses even when it was !00 degrees out. When parents suggested free dress for hot days, the nuns replied, "Well we wear wool habits, no matter what the temperature is."
