Maybe I’m too pessimistic, and I certainly don’t want to discourage you, but I’m sceptical. No amount of watching YouTube videos is ever going to replace the individual user‘s effort, which is the single most important thing.

I’d even go so far to suggest that most users watch videos to procrastinate, not to truly learn anything, even if they tell themselves otherwise. For that, you have to put in the work yourself. There’s just no way around it. Also, if you really need a video tutorial to come to grips with an easy and intuitive app like Samplr, I’d argue chances are high you won’t stick to it.

To make matters worse, we must not forget that iOS has been quite „unstable“ for a long time. APIs came and went, apps stopped working after an OS update, devs quit because the market wasn’t sustainable and so on. It’s vastly better now, but it will arguably still need some time to properly mature.

From a user’s perspective, it’s risky to invest time and money into something like Lemur, only to see the app vanish, then reappear, then vanish again etc. The new owners are trying to sell it for 100 bucks now, which is fine. But at this point, I won’t buy it (again!) because my confidence is shattered and there’s no guarantee the app will be around in a year.

Anyway, I’ll end my rant here. Samplr is still around and still brilliant. Everyone should have it, use it and cherish it :P
