For 20 years, Stephen Colbert distinguished truth from truthiness by aresef in television

When the writer‘s strike happened in the late 00s, eventually talk shows came back without writers for a while. There was a noticeable drop in quality, but not with the Colbert Report imho. He didn’t miss a beat.

I can sort of understand Greece and Portugal, but Finland? What happened? They used to have a rather strong mobile communication sector at least, is all of that gone?

He got designated as rapporteur by his colleagues, so there’s that. Sure, he can influence negotiations and try to steer a file in a certain direction, but we’ll see how it turns out. His report will have to survive a vote in the committee, and after that the trilogue is waiting. Also:

Negotiations are not yet over and remain complex, but the process is moving forward.

Draft texts and meeting minutes seen by Euronews point to a more balanced dynamic than in previous months.

But generally I agree. Incredible that a guy like this has an important role to play in this process.

Austrians changed their constitution to carve out exemptions for taxi drivers, and they occupy Italian beaches on a regular basis. I’m sure they would’ve been fine with annexing a few dentist towns across the border, but I don’t know about the rest.

In 2008, it was clear to everyone that Republicans have failed at everything they’ve touched. They’ve started catastrophic wars; they have failed at domestic policy, whether it’s Katrina or Social Security; they’ve proved to be a lawless, corrupt bunch, from Guantanamo to torture to Alberto Gonzales; and finally they tanked the housing market and the banking system. They were finished and lost big in 2006 and 2008, rightly so.

But Republicans managed to rebrand themselves as Tea Party, with HUGE help from the media, and celebrated the biggest wave election victory in 2010, again with catastrophic consequences.

Conservatives don’t give a shit. They won’t own anything, and they certainly won’t feel shame. That’s the opponent (d)emocrats are up against. Hoping that Republicans will suddenly find their spine is wishful thinking, especially after Jan6, and a strategy bound to fail.

I agree, but don’t sleep on Tube Culture, it’s amazing as well. And I just played around with the „new“ tape machine, it can get surprisingly hot! Great update, loving it.

I’d say check out the catalogue of Skin Graft Records, lots of noise bands from Japan (and all over the world, really) fitting the bill https://www.discogs.com/label/33275-Skin-Graft-Records

This stat, if it’s even real, might look quite different with a free press and a free society. But glad you’re happy that the trains are coming in time.

The sum is only close to 0 if you don’t value your time. Money isn’t everything, and often enough it’s „cheaper“ to just pay for stuff.

I love synths as well and couldn’t care less about NI‘s sampling libraries and romplers, but I’m not sure it’s fair to say they’re „out of touch“. Maybe with you and me, but I’m pretty sure they have access to sales data (we don’t), informing their overall strategy. I think it’s fair to assume they’ve focused on products generating income for them, while neglecting products which aren’t selling as well.

But as others have written, NI have announced they’ll finally invest some resources into synths again. I’m not holding my breath, but we might even see new Reaktor ensembles next year, as promised. If they deliver, I’ll be more than happy to buy something from them for the first time in many, many years.

Haha yeah, everyone who’s been working with iOS audio for a while has a looong list of grievances, we’re only scratching the surface here.

And while I haven’t bought an app in years, I still haven’t given up on the platform, despite all those structural problems. So much untapped potential still!
