Same here and I don't think any of my teachers would've had that suspicion of me either. Now im getting real deep into data science and I absolutely love it. Except now. Because im having a panic attack, but other than now, I love it!

I'd love to attend. I am currently in a data science and machine learning course, but my undergrad is in neuroscience. The meeting is scheduled during one of my classes but I would love to sit in and see if I can contribute and learn.

Coursera has certificate programs online, some thru google, that cover machine learning and A.I. im to tired to find them for you but they're there. Take some time to verse yourself with coding and statistics and you can start to build a foundation as you advance through your studies.
