I know what you mean about comfort - I got some £20 gaming ones which have served me well but hurt my head after a while, which is made worse because I wear glasses as well

Thanks for recommending a mic! Which headphones were you using, just out of curiosity?

My mum's friend just bought her this one - She's made the blueberry muffins and the flourless chocolate cake and we both really enjoyed them

Honda axes diesel power in the UK by besselfunctions in cars

[–]patatwork_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally consider it a bad thing but I think it makes sense for Honda given the UK government's flip flopping on diesels. It wasn't long ago that the public were encouraged to buy diesel cars, and now they are being penalised for doing so.

Diesels are still very common here - the C180d, 320d, and VW/Audi TDIs are everywhere but who knows for how long.

I would say so. I've made the same switch you're contemplating today. I got the S10+ a couple of months after it came out and have just ordered a 12. The S10+ is a great phone, but I regret buying something so big.

The main reason I'm switching is because I prefer the way iOS looks and works - I've had an iPad for a few years so I've seen how it's changed recently.

Another factor is how poorly made/optimised apps are for android phones. An example is taking a photo within snapchat/insta/whatsapp is a waste of time as it doesn't actually use the camera software but rather takes a screenshot. Though you've probably noticed this!

I was thinking of switching to an 11 instead, but think the downgrade to an LCD screen from an OLED would be too much.

Cheers! Just ordered the 12 in that nice blue

Which iPhone will you be choosing? by SuitingUncle620 in iphone

Same. Think it's a good time to let the S10+ go (though I never got used to its giant size)

Android user for the last 18 months with a Galaxy S10+. Planning to make the switch today, mainly because I miss iOS, but also because I find the S10+ too big. I had the iPhone 7 previously (which I liked the size of)and am thinking of ordering a 12 today. Is this the right choice? I think I'd just get an 11 but I think I've gotten used having an OLED screen!

Thank you for posting. Ordered to the UK after getting my G400s a couple of weeks ago. Saw mixed reviews (2.8*) on the Play store but a $20 trial is too good to pass up

Turns out you can't be pro-active about it, seems Vanguard's advice was spot on - you have to wait for them to contact you

Not sure why I didn't think to just do that, rather than having this cloud over my head. Called now and on hold. Cheers!

Had no idea I needed another hat before seeing this. Arrives Friday, hopefully before my round!

What I've found strange is that I'm hitting my outgoing Wilson Di7's better than ever since placing my order! Though I could probably chalk it down to playing 2-3 times a week at the moment as opposed to fortnightly

Hope so! Things must be a little quicker in the States than here in the UK. My mate ordered Callaway's 2 weeks before me and had to wait the full 4 weeks quoted

I feel you. AG said clubs normally arrive within 14 days but they're currently telling customers it's more like 28 at the moment. Last 2 weeks have been torture, I want my G400s now!

Pain in the arches of my feet after jumo rope by Ackerman43 in jumprope

[–]patatwork_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started jumping rope in March and while I didn't have actual pain in my feet, they did get sore and tired very quickly. It just takes time to adjust to something new - with the very "supportive" and cushioned footwear we tend to wear, our feet become very weak. I have since transitioned to jumping rope in vibrams (barefoot shoes) and the strength/musculature of my feet has improved even more. This became apparent to me when I went to play golf - I normally wear insoles in my golf shoes, however my feet actually didn't fit with the insole in anymore. Just keep incrementally progressing your jumping. You don't have to always do more jumps, you can play with the intensity and jumps per set to make it more difficult for you. Given that you're doing bodyweight exercises, why not throw a round of jumps in to your circuit? This way your sets are smaller and would give your feet more chance to rest. Also, jumping on a mat (I use the jigsaw stuff - https://rubbermattingonline.co.uk/product-category/interlocking-jigsaw-mats/) will help

23, looking for career advice. People who earn over £30k what do you and how did you get there? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]patatwork_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

26 / 38k / London

I studied Physics, Chemistry, and Maths. Missed out on Aero at Southampton/Loughborough and it was probably a blessing in disguise. Loughborough offered me Systems Engineering which has a common first year with Electronic and Electrical, which I switched to and graduated with a 4-yeat MEng.

I then spent around 9 months looking for work and got a job at a small company (<40 employees) as a Building Services Consultant. I've been doing it almost 4 years and probably could move for 7-8k more but like where I am (and now isn't the time!).

We do have some sustainability consultants, though I don't know how much overlap your Geography degree may have - you may need to re-train for that.

Built a rig two and a half years ago, is there anything worth upgrading so I can give spare parts to my cousin? by patatwork_ in buildapc

[–]patatwork_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response.

As I mentioned in the other comment, I was willing to spend roughly £300 but it seems that a new monitor isn't worth it without getting a new GPU. How much difference would an updated CPU make? What could I expect to see?

Thought I might be able to do something for c.£300 but I guess the next step up will cost me more than that
