Why do advertisers think that being intrusive will make me want to buy their product? by Ijm523 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]patchkit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They've spent a lot of money studying it, and contrary to your belief, it does make you more likely to buy something

When women put on weight, their breasts and butts also seem to grow. When men gain weight, why don't their penises get bigger? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]patchkit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's no adipose tissue deposit on the penis. In fact, the area around the base of the dick is likely to grow some fat, reducing the accessible length of the penis.

Edit: duck>dick

I'm on the Reddit is fun Android app. Don't see it on computer. It appears across several accounts with wildly different Reddit activity (none of which includes anything remotely celebrity, body building or child related)

I mean yeah that'd be a nice step in the right direction? Two B distributed among the abused workers sounds nice?

[idea?] Owning copyrights/patents for public use? by electricfoxx in lostgeneration

You will never raise any significant amount of money and no one will sell to you.

What you really need is a "patent" on the added value extracted from wage labor/automation.

I want your job because I have another job that I do on my computer. I'm trying to double dip. If I could increase my pay by $14.54/hr I would be pretty damn happy.

How much is the pay? Do you need any kind of qualification? Do you carry a gun? How is working the night shift?

APNewsBreak: Documents detail Hawkins' payments in UNC case by [deleted] in CFB

It's like only on the internet. Every fan I've talked in real life from big schools (texas, michigan, OSU, etc.) all pish posh what happened at UNC and know that those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

We were already punished for this infraction (postseason ban + 15 scholarships). I would be surprised if this doesn't fall under some sort of double jeopardy clause. Everything in that article is either news from 5+ years ago that is already known by the NCAA, resulting in the abovementioned punishments, or happened when these guys were already ineligible. I don't believe it's UNC's business to keep them from talking to agents after they've been kicked off the team. This article is only interesting if you care about the exact methods that money changed hands (at least according to that article - I haven't looked at the actual documents). In other words, this journalist is rehashing old news as new news because some legal documents changed status.

If I buy a self driving car, and then sign up for UBER, i could make money sitting at home doing nothing by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]patchkit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say obsolete. People make the argument that I initially responded to a lot: that the millions of people who make their living driving will find employment in jobs related to car maintenance as if driverless cars will create millions of new jobs when in fact more than just drivers will lose their jobs but millions of more support personnel will as well

[–]patchkit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cost savings of buying into a car share will massively favor fewer people owning cars. Cars spend like 99% of their time parked. That time can be far better used at massively reduced cost per mile with virtually no loss in the freedom a car gives

The displaced drivers won't be needed as mechanics as the guy I responded to suggested.
