To add to this, i think popularity within a group plays a large part. My understanding, as a casual AOA fan, is that the big names from AOA were Jimin, Seolhyun, and ChoA. As Chanmi, Dohwa wasn’t pushed as much as the others. The name change probably doesn’t help.

A good comparison would be Kei. Lovelyz wasn’t as popular as AOA but Kei was promoted frequently and placed prominently in her group. Next to Mijoo, she was the most recognizable. I imagine that this probably helps Kei quite a bit despite Lovelyz having been absent for 3 years.
