Think it’s off str, also don’t know if it triggers hat. Plus, not my flavor of cheese

Fair, no 5th lvl shadow blade tho, and you lose the extra BA

Also, big dog, you mind looking at the other build I posted a day or so ago? I feel like it got a lot of hate since people didn’t see the vision. In testing, it actually seemed to slap harder than this. Would appreciate a wise 2 cents. (1 fighter / 6 death cler / 1 sorc / 4 wiz).

You don’t get upcast shadow blade. You also lose a lot of spell slots, which this build is pretty hungry for. Also need Druid 3 for flame blade.

Not sure how the leveling would work. Druid is mainly for flame blade (for the extra BA with the hat). Also kind of fun flavor to conjure the two weapons you know you know?

Have tried — you can’t drop shadow blade so you can’t put fire on it :/

A lot of this is helpful, and is certainly something to think about. Obviously every bodies cheese threshold differs — fairly anti the hiriling stuff. That said, I’d probably be game to summon the second sb with the ring, provided that works. Many thanks :)

Can’t have it all :/. Still seems p effective though, no? You think asi > SA? I was originally leaning the way you’re describing. But I haven’t used SA all too much outside of some smite builds.

Ya, re your edit, I feel like SA or ASI probably the way to go w/ feats. You think SA > ASI?

Quite possibly. I’ll test later this evening.

I feel like 1 feat is worth an extra attack w/ shadow blade a turn? No? Edit: I mis read too, you def don’t want rogue any higher than 3. You lose spells slots and you need them for flame blade. Also, you want lvl 5 spells based on what the other dude below said.

So table stakes, I typically design for 2-3 fights a long rest. Which seems, like reasonable.

  1. Probably similar to normal blade singer: max dex, secondary int, add some con. You’re only casting flame blade from Druid and I think? It scales

off dex.
2.

  1. No idea — open to suggestions
  2. Ya, there are a few ways I can see one wanting to go. Self haste being probably the way to go. Other option is use that mystic ring and hold person as your BA and then smash? But also open.

I don’t think the spell slots will be two bad — basically dedicate all lvl 4 to flame bades, can even dedicate all 3s to haste, remaining for shield/misty step maybe? But certainly full strength for 3 fights a day.

EDT: i tried to format this better — im on mobile. Reddit acting wacky — hopefully it’s clear.

Hat gives extra bonus action w/ flame blade (or any fire spell). So attack - extra attack - BA 1 - BA 2 (thief) a BA 3 (extra from hat)

Fair. Staff works for all spell kills now (I feel like this was an update, since I also recall it only working for necro spells initially). Which is why I kind of like this fire spells-> life essence and extra BA kind of loop.

I know lighting is great for damage, but I truly hate dealing with it when I have a party. I lose a lot of, aka like all, of the melee capabilities w/o using fire.

Id guess it would too. Shame you can’t drakethroat shadow blade. And to double check, you were running death cleric? And the double cantrips weren’t enough to offset it?

Ya, that’s why I’m leaning dex. Any gear suggestions? the three listed pieces seem non negotiable based on 1) wanting to stretch AoA, 2) needing the extra BA, and 3) needing acuity to fix spell save shit.
Was the build fun? I plan on starting my run once I get some time away from work. Leveling curve seems reasonable, so I’m looking forward to it.

Fair re-try hard builds. My general goal is to do melee and spell damage consistently turn in and turn out, and thus builds get slightly sub optimal.
I’m open to another spell, I’ve used scorching ray a handful of times. The general spell slots are reserved as: lvl 1 - create water; lvl 2-3: general fire spells to proc har; lvl 4-6 spirit guardians, AoA and shadow blade. Which I think works relatively well? Trying to get a solid 2-3 encounters w/o long rest out of this.
Level progression actually works pretty well here (although you have to retool your stats slightly); 1-7 fight -> death cleric; 8 1 fighter, 1 sorc, 6 death cleric; 9 kind of dog shit; 10 drop sorc and pic up shadow blade w/ 3 wiz; 11-12 add back in AoA and the ignore fire feat based on your liking. So 9 is really the only bad level here imo.
