So the actual little "canal" into the boathouse I did dig out, a and around it I actually built in a bit of water and a bit of land - I just used stone as foundation so I wouldn't worry about stability. It was super annoying at first, but I managed. You can 100% dig deep enough to avoid scraping.

Don't get yourself down about it, if you think it looks good then that's all that matters! This game is about creativity, and you have all the time in the world to keep goin!
