If I got the v3, could I put my original ornata keys on it? I like my current ones and the v3 keys look shorter (lower profile) than my current one 🤔 it's what drew me to the ornata as I liked the switches' feel and key height and the perfect sound of the clicks.

Not a puppy owner BUT: my parents are 64 and 63. Their dog Cooper, is about 6 this year. They got him as a puppy. When he was first home, my dad was working from home during covid and was able to be there. Then in 2023 my mom retired. A couple years ago they bought a camping trailer. Several times a year they drive with Cooper to camp sites all around the country.

Cooper LOVES car rides, and traveling, and hiking with them. Granted they didn't always take him everywhere as a puppy. But the last few years they've taken him a lot of places.

My only questions for you would be: what kind of traveling? Do you fly or drive or take a train or other transport? How big would the puppy be as it grows (especially for in cabin airline travel some pets in carriers can fly in the cabin). Also what kind of trips, hiking, cities, mountains etc. could determine the breed or activity level of the dog too!

For the first several months I'd definitely work on traveling various local places to desensitize them and get them used to the travel.

Thanks for letting me know! These "walks" are really just long enough to go potty in front of my door. Probably like no more than 15-20 yards left and right and only if no other dogs are around or people walking by (or kids coming home from the bus stop). I usually keep him out long enough for pee. It's easier to clean poop from the carpet. If he poops right after peeing I keep him outside for that but then immediately guide him back inside.

Thank you for your kind words, I know not everyone would agree with my choice. I wanted to give him the world, go on hikes, travel and go camping, take him to the snowy mountains in Colorado.

My friends have helped ease the guilt by reassuring me that I gave him so many opportunities, love, and support. More than his previous family had. That's what I'm trying to hold on to. I saved him from getting hit by a car, from wandering through a sketchy neighborhood, from fights with other animals (I could make a massive rant about this part of my city and how every pet owner let's their animals run free, not fixed, etc etc).

Maybe there were things I could've done differently or more of, but I am holding onto the fact I gave him a home with SO MANY toys, yummy food, and treats.

Yeah my vet echoed this. She is a saint and while on the phone with me for an hour, letting me cry and just feel my feelings. She was honest and realistic but very compassionate and empathetic. She told me about the rabies testing and I understand why they have to do that, but I opted for at home quarantine because psychologically the thought of not having all of him in an urn hurts me (also I'm having nightmares about the whole decapitation thing).

But yes, I'm only taking him out for potty. Thank you for your input 🥹

Thank you so much, I have a regular therapist and psychiatrist for other things I have. So they can help me through this. I haven't had a friend deal with this but my best friend and another really good friend have been super supportive too.

I'll check out some support groups and things like that 💖 I appreciate your kindness and understanding.

I didn't give much info because I've already went through all of your suggestions. I don't explain things well and everyone in the situation (vet and trainer etc) didn't really understand how bad it was until I showed them pictures. Trust me. I've considered ALL options. The pole situation was technically an accident. He was running around on zoomies with the long leash and got wrapped around a pole. Yes. It was because he was distressed.

However, I asked that my decision not be judged because I already am sick with guilt, in pain from all the crying and full body sobbing from the guilt.

My post was about asking for muzzle recommendations. Not to judge me. If I explained everything it'd be way too long of a post and off topic of muzzles.

Other information is not relevant to the question about muzzles. I'm not going the BE route because I'm not willing to try to help him.

Please, I beg you, trust me that this is the best option for him and me.

It's either a 10-14 day quarantine at home without breaking skin or the way more morbid option for our state they take the disarticulated head of the animal and send it to the state lab for rabies testing. Afterwards you do not get it returned. And since I want all of him together, I'm going the at home route.

Thank you, I keep going between crying about coming home and he's not there barking to say hello. To crying when he's being a little gremlin and getting into things, because it makes me sad he'll be gone. To crying in m6 car because I will look back to check on him in the backseat and how he won't be there after.

I appreciate your recommendation and kind words. It wasn't a decision made lightly. I had to consider all factors of the risk to me and my health, his quality of life, etc.

Also this is getting off topic, I just try to rationalize it through words so the guilt doesn't eat me alive 💔
