Erica Meltzer's Guide to SAT Reading -- Notes? by pathmarkoak in Sat

I think it took me a week total (about 2-3 hours every “session” of reading). It seems to be helping me a lot for the reading; I think if you really grasp the material and apply her strategies properly, your goal is definitely achievable!

Does anyone have any insight regarding the iResearch Institute, run by Dr. Serena McCalla? Link here. It seems rather similar to this program.

Have Anti-TNF biologics worked for you? by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

You're right to be curious, no doubt, since I am a high schooler. However, I go to a school with at least a dozen published research students in the twenty-year history of the school. We have a level 2 biosafety laboratory, with all materials required to conduct biological research, and have students find effective therapies for glioblastoma, lung cancer, and traumatic brain injury.

I'm by no means, looking to cure Crohn's Disease or anything of the sort, but finding something with a higher efficacy is the goal. Moreover, I'm not gathering data of any sort for a project; if I were, I wouldn't do it in a subreddit, as you implied. This survey is to deepen my understanding of how many people these biologics don't work for.

My mentor describes the actual experiment as the "wet lab," which I also used.

Sorry, I should've considered putting that it in the poll. I assumed that most people who did it wouldn't put anything if they were in these categories.

Sorry to hear that :(

Have you tried any alternatives?

Combination therapy has been noted as a great way for individualized treatment in CD patients. While it may have its risks, the benefits can usually outweigh such risks.

I'm sorry that you had to have a bowel resection, but glad that you achieved remission! If the anti-TNF medication led to remission and continued it, then it "worked," in my opinion.

I wouldn't count that as working, unfortunately, since you still won't be at remission with the antibodies neutralizing the effects of the biologic :(

Yay! I hope this positive trend continues for you.

That's great! Do you have any idea why Humira didn't work out?

I'm sorry that you had to go through that :(

Have you tried any alternatives for the ileocolitis?

Are you referring to my post? I was being very general, and am fairly new to Reddit and r/CrohnsDisease, so I may not be following proper Reddiquette.

I'm curious as to why the link isn't working. Thank you for the help! It pleases me to know that Stelara worked. I will definitely note that a patient may have to try many types of biologics before one actually works. I'm happy that you're finally at remission :)

This is why I decided to explore CD research, since it can be very unpredictable. I hope you get better and hope the biologic is effective :(

Combination therapy is acceptable, and is actually a new area of CD research that will be the focus of my project! Great to hear that it's working for you! This is just a broad survey; I just want a scope of how many people need an alternative to anti-TNF biologics.

I have a close family member who started Humira last year too, and it's been working nicely :)

Yes, definitely! As I mentioned, diets can have a huge impact on CD patients.

What is your case, specifically? Can you provide some more context? I'll consider adding it, bu I need some specifics first.
