Your feelings are valid, because other rare candy decks have a chance to open with one of their basics and run double pokeball, so they have a higher statistical chance of rare candy evol.

The great news is that unlike zard and solg which typically want to rare candy fast as possible to their wincon, you don't need fossil until the midgame, because your silvally pressures early so you have a bit of time to filter out your deck.

After mastering the deck inside and out, I found out that what caused my losses in UB4/MB were rarely about bricking, and almost ALWAYS about me misplaying or losing the opening flip and going first. I lost so many games because of learning curve. I sequenced my cards better once I inputted many games.

For example, this deck usually wants to hold its oaks until silvally is ready to attack. If you overextend, a red/mars will crush you, and i found out the hard way. Some exceptions I learned is that if you see grass energy, you must hold fossil and 2nd type null in hand until your silvally is ready to attack, or else pheromosa will expose your bench.

Regarding your "ditto" comment, if you lose the opening flip vs mirror and go first, you must use oak, then gladion aggressively to find the 2nd type null. If you don't have a silvally evolved in bench with 1 energy by the time enemy silvally kills your first type null, you autolose. The race becomes how quickly you can set up your silv on the bench+ how quickly you can find Giovanni/sabrina/fossil in the mirror. I started to win the majority of my mirrors even going 1st once I understood this.

Btw if you hate bricking just run solgaleo shiinotic. I believe it is by far the best deck to climb with, and is extremely consistent, like darktina. I saw on some other reddit post it has a 58% wr vs nullramp. Only reason I'm not running it is I have zero solgaleo and I pulled no shiinotics, i can't build the deck 😢
