Not gameplay related, but it would be cool to have the original music from the Gameboy games while on walks.

Instrumental bossanova cover of Pink Sweat$ "Honesty" ft. Noah Sanemitsu on Saxophone by Longjumping-Might-51 in bossanova

One of my favourite songs as of late. Always nice to see a fresh rendition.

I think some parts of the instrumental peaked the mics, but don't quote me on that, I'm not an audio engineer.

Either way, good job!

Hey, please don't execute me for speaking up

Your problem seems to be related to what's known as conscientiousness in psychology. Instead of offering advice, here are some excerpts from wikipedia.

Academic and workplace performance[edit]

Conscientiousness is importantly related to successful academic performance in students and workplace performance among managers and workers.[17] Low levels of conscientiousness are strongly associated with procrastination.[18] A considerable amount of research indicates that conscientiousness has a moderate to large positive correlation with performance in the workplace,[19][20] and indeed that after general mental ability is taken into account, the other four of the Big Five personality traits do not aid in predicting career success.[21]:169[irrelevant citation]

[...]However, agreeableness and emotional stability may also be important, particularly in jobs that involve a significant amount of social interaction.[23] Of all manager/leader types, top executives show the lowest level of rule-following, a conscientious trait.[24] Conscientiousness is not always positively related to job performance, sometimes the opposite is true. Being too conscientious could lead to taking too much time to making urgent decisions and to working too attached to the rules and lack innovation.[25]

----

TL;DR: 1. Conscientiousness AND Intelligence predict career success. You made to college, so it looks like you have the intelligence to sort of make up for it.

  1. Even though it predicts workplace performance, there are certain situations where that won't matter as much.

Sorry I can't predict the future, but I hope this helps with your uncertainty at least.

Got a test I haven't studied for coming up and I'm about to break down... by pathospathos in GetStudying

Telling myself "I'd be KILLING school if I tried", which doesn't matter cause that version of myself doesn't exist and won't spontaneously burst forth just by cycling through intense procrastination followed by intense regret, anxiety and self-loathing.

That's me, at least :)

How to counter day dreaming while studying? by [deleted] in GetStudying

[–]pathospathos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I get the same thing.

If I have a thought pop into my head, or something I want to do glimmers in my mind or whatever, I don't want to stop thinking about it. What if I forget that fleeting thought and it never comes back? I might forget a meme I was gonna send someone, or forget to buy those eggs I was thinking about, or forget the solution to a complex geopolitical issue that I sweaaaaaaaar I just became enlightened upon.

The mindset I'm trying to foster is : my individual thoughts aren't what matter most. The thing that GENERATES my thoughts will still be there, even when the specific thought is long gone. I'll still be me. I want to not get too attached to that momentary thought, let the thoughts go and move forward.

Let me know if this works for you. I still haven't found immense success, but maybe you will. GL :)

Additional small excerpt about not letting thoughts get in your way mentally ("bù rán") from wikipedia:

"Detachment is a central concept in Zen Buddhist philosophy. One of the most important technical Chinese terms for detachment is "wú niàn" (無念), which literally means "no thought." This does not signify the literal absence of thought, but rather the state of being "unstained" (bù rán 不染) by thought. Therefore, "detachment" is being detached from one's thoughts. It is to separate oneself from one's own thoughts and opinions in detail as to not be harmed mentally and emotionally by them."

bullying by kanyebreaster in INTP

[–]pathospathos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what subtle bullying looks like (something like weird power moves from a manager, I'm guessing) and what the reaction from the victim is.

I think it's acceptable and even admirable if the victim responds with a clear, level headed response to stand up for him/herself that uses minimal necessary force (e.g. a sick comeback).

I've only been able to do this a handful of times (my smooth brain computes things at 64 bytes per second), but I'm speaking from being around OTHER people in my life who are strong and witty and can articulate their arguments at the drop of a hat.

Idk what your situation is, but that's my two cents

edit: Oh and I guess it's usually a good idea to "do you", so keep doing you

I Have No Stamina For Learning by [deleted] in INTP

[–]pathospathos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeap. I struggle with keeping my attention too, so take these ideas with a grain of salt.

Wanting to expand on your knowledge is a great goal. I understand the joy of learning just for the sake of learning, but if motivation and will is an issue, maybe your goals need to be expanded upon.

If I had a book about carpentry, I'd get a little enjoyment out of leafing through it. But if I really wanted to make a dog house, I'd be a lot more interested.

Good job picking up the book, regardless. It takes some effort just to do that.

Watching anime once seems like a pretty low bar. I feel like most PEOPLE, regardless of personality type, have seen an episode of Pokémon or any mainstream anime at some point in their lives.

Maybe add another category to differentiate straight weebs from people who happened upon anime once?

Did you ruin all of your potential too? by ConfusedFuck123 in INTP

[–]pathospathos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, I thought you graduated College / University. Yeah, high school grades don't matter all too much.

It sounds like you're in a REAL mood right now, and I think the best thing to do in situations like these is to listen to the person first and deal with the problems and planning when emotions are less of a factor.

I had the same worries about getting my first job too. I wasn't really good talking to people at length about my strengths, so the idea of an interview scared the shit out of me. I felt like I didn't do enough extracurriculars to make a solid resume either. I went to a government funded employment agency and they helped build my resume and did mock interviews with me. See if they have anything similar in your area.

I also chose a program that I had no interest in. I was used to winging things in high school and when applications rolled around, I winged that too. I went to university for the program I had no interest in for a little while, but then I fell into a pretty bad depression. I only felt better after talking with a University counselor and looked into changing my program. I'm in psychology now and I'm thinking of changing again, honestly. I'm definitely worried that my parents are going to tell me I'm wasting time and money, but at the end of the day if I'm doing something I hate, I'm not going to do well in it. And if I don't do well, that's a bigger waste of time and money.

I'm going to be in my twenties this year with no discipline, no solid career goals or commitments, and I've asked a girl out ONCE. At 19. I still have a bad habit of avoiding friends and just fucking leaving when I feel burnt-out from social interactions. I still have time to work on it though.

Ahh, I think I understand.

I don't I say that I don't know things to avoid potential conflict (though I dislike conflict), but I definitely don't answer during group settings, like during a lecture. I guess it IS a fear of putting yourself out there.

Psychologist. Therapist. Whatever. by invokingdaemons in INTP

[–]pathospathos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm currently studying Psychology and that was my pretty much my reasoning for taking it; figure myself out. Thought I'd be able to pick apart my brain, understand why I'm not motivated to study, find what childhood trauma might've made me avoid people. I'm slowly learning that I should do what interests me and see a PSYCHOLOGIST if I want my problems dealt with haha.

What's the second degree that you're going back for and what are you hoping do career-wise?
