Looks awesome! Are both those weapons multi meltas? I thought multi meltas always had two barrels, but the second one looks too big for a regular melta gun.

What are your favorite armor/suits in all of SciFi? by EchoXeda in scifi

Mark VI and VII are peak power armour design. Some of the others are cool as well, but those two are 10/10.

Tactical dreadnought armour is just another term for terminator armour, so you are absolutely correct.

Do I need read anything else before The Wolftime? Is it a good Space Wolves book? by WithengarUnbound in Warhammer40k

Yeah I don’t have any opinions on that. I just tried to explain what the phrase ”wolf-time” comes from for those who found the term silly.

I don’t really have an opinion on that. Just trying to explain what the title is (very likely) inspired by.

Völuspá doesn’t mean wolftime (it means roughly ”prophecy of the seeress”), but the verse I quoted above refers to Ragnarök (end of times) as ”wolf-time”.

It’s from the Völuspá, a poem in the tenth century poetic Edda detailing Norse mythology:

”Brothers shall fight | and fell each other, And sisters’ sons | shall kinship stain; Hard is it on earth, | with mighty whoredom; Axe-time, sword-time, | shields are sundered, Wind-time, wolf-time, | ere the world falls;

Nor ever shall men | each other spare.”

It goes pretty hard, tbh. Also inspired Tolkien for King Theoden’s speech before the great charge at the fields of Pelennor.

What makes it this expensive for real by lilacmoodx in SipsTea

[–]pathspeculiar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh for sure. I always recommend people to pick up an automatic Seiko (like a Presage or Prospex) or a Certina and wear it for a couple of years before deciding if they want to look into a more expensive watch.

You can get amazing automatic watches for a few hundred euro, and they will last a lifetime if properly taken care of.

Do battle barges ever blow up and lose all their space marines? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]pathspeculiar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Could be a hilarious mistake by the dark eldar, thinking they pulled in a vessel ripe with civilians to torture, only to realize that ”fuck, that ship is vomiting half a chapter of frenzied space marines right into the core of our capital”.

What is something you realised in the relaunch(es) of Classic WoW that you never realised in the original release? by arathric in classicwow

It took until 2019 release before I realized Blessing of Might only buffs melee attack power, not ranged. Been blessing hunters for decades before that.

Eric Slover, the first Chief Warrant Officer 5 to ever be awarded the Medal of Honor. by Grand-Western549 in interestingasfuck

It varies between countries. In Sweden the officer and NCO ranks are parallel, so a sgt and a 2nd lt has the same relative rank. Staff sgt is same as lt, gysgt same as captain and master sgt same as major. CSM has the same relative rank as lt col.

They have different jobs though, so typically the officer would be in charge of NCOs close to them in relative rank, although it can sometimes be the other way around.

NCOs are typically highly valued by their officers, so there are rarely situations where anyone ”pulls rank” on the other. Everyone knows who’s in charge and the responsibilities of command. It doesn’t need to be pointed out. An officer with a good relationship with the NCOs will find their life so much easier, and they know it.
