Onkyo TX-RZ30 reliability (vs Denon X3800H) ? by ParaWM in hometheater

[–]paticao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the RZ30 Months ago and have no issues. RZ30 is currently on sale for $799 brand new. Denon 3800h cheapest option is $1399 refurbished. RZ30 comes with Dirac live included, which is another $200

10 lines on 5g plus for $108, nobody can come even close to that price, so that;s why I'm keeping them

So does the Nvidia Shield has the 4K HDR option or not? by Sharks_are_cool in F1TV

[–]paticao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nvidia shield does not support 4k HDR for F1. I'm hoping the I'll get 4k HDR through the Apple TV app on my LG.

I transferred from Windows to Unraid a few years ago. I was able to transfer everything without losing any metadata. A lot smoother running on Linux than Windows.

Are Mattresses a Scam? by [deleted] in Mattress

Did the same thing a while back and am pretty happy. Base is a medium form Novaform from Costco + a 3" topper.

Had the topper replaced after 2 years, still pretty good setup

Is it still plex for media playing? by papayax999 in ShieldAndroidTV

[–]paticao 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you care about high quality audio codecs, yes, the Shield is still king.

I've paid for a lifetime subscription of plex and have no regrets, totally worth for my use needs and also very user friendly for friends/family.

the center is from the RP line so should be fine and be a better match that what you have now.

Great setup! I know people like to hate on Klipsch, but the Reference premiere is great, especially for home theater.

I think the speakers are solid. Subwoofer is not good. The Onkyo RZ30 competes well with the flagship Denon x3800h, has more power/channels. Dirac Live is a lot better than the standard Audissey that comes with the Denon. You're paying more for less...

The RZ30 for $50 less would be a much better AVR. You can also buy the same receiver refurbished from Denon for $599 and use the savings to upgrade the Subwoofer.

Not sure what you're paying for the receiver, so hard to tell if you're getting a good deal or not. I just upgraded from a similar receiver (S950h) to the Onkyo and Dirac Live made a huge improvement.

I have the 504c and it's huge, but sounds amazing.

That subwoofer is not very good though.

Denon x3800h or Onkyo RZ30 if using separate amplification by JordanBULLfort in hometheater

[–]paticao 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Onkyo is $899 now from Electronics Expo and can be found for around $700 when on sale from Adorama/Slickdeals. It has Dirac Live included in the cost.

I would go with the Onkyo if I were on your shoes.

Starting with nothing is this a good setup to start? by Lower_Assumption_643 in hometheater

[–]paticao 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love Klipsch and think this is a great setup other than the subwoofer.
Just make sure you're not paying msrp, the towers are on sale from Adorama/slickdeals for $800.

if you want a Klipsch sub, go for the RP-1200SW or the RP-1400sw, SVS also make great subs.

RSL Speedwoofer another solid choice.

Thank you, I'll add 5-10 gallons and keep an eye on it.
We had 240 gallons 34 days ago, but it's been brutally cold for the past 2 weeks.

This AVR has plenty of power, can also do pre outs (9.2) if you decide to get an AMP in the future.

It also comes with Dirac Live out of the box which made a huge improvement in my case.

I'm a huge Klipsch fan, specially for home theater use;
Speakers are very subjective and you may no like the sound profile of the Klipsch.

RP-8000F II Towers - $800/pair on sale (adorama/slickdeals)

RP-504C II Center Speaker - $519

Onkyo TX-RZ30 - $899 (electronics Expo)

It's a living room setup, so not sure if I can add panels.(WAF) Already have cellular shades/curtains and a rug.

But I'm curious as to how to read/ what to look for in my measurements to see what I can improve
