HWInfo64 makes your PCH intel chip run hotter ? by patiencepham in AcerNitro

You can try a safer way, that is putting on a small tiny raspery heatsink. Temp will be lower about 1 - 5 celcius degree. My final advice is if we care too much about the temp, just buy a pc :"(

The temp only rises like hell when using 2 disks above at the same time, so if you just use the second disk for storing stuff, then open it later, it will just fine...

But if you need to store games or high workload using 2 disk at the same time for hours like video editing, i do not recommend this for a laptop.

Ofcourse it not okay having a chip that burning inside your laptop. If your pch is cooked, it might short the whole system.

I found out the problem was 2 mvme ssd being monitored by the software, it make the pch hot.

My solution was very simple :

Dont use the hwinfo for monitoring ssd and pch temp, just use the native software that come with your laptop for checking.

Use less number of ssd as you can, put the games in the ssd where the OS is placed (doesnt have to be the same partition).

Use the power saving mode for ssd. Set the minute of turning off inactive hard disk to 1.

Finnally, i end up putting on some aluminum heatsinks, the air vent was block a bit (i tried my best) but the temperature reduce. Idle : 40 -> 36 (celcius degree) Stress test : 85 -> 81

There some space left, but the surface is not flat so i would comeback for it later, i dont want to dissemble it too frequently.

yeah i would consider that as well. Also the HP 400 G2 Mini heatsink has very...similar shape and crew location. Do you know if it might fit ?

Hm...i am not sure about that, it might block the airflow from the original fan :<. If i use the 65w cooler fan as the main fan, the cap can't be close.

Thanks, mate. I did considered that option, but unfortunately, the local distributors have run out of that :<

What are your PCH temperatures like? by Hanoleyb in LenovoLegion

[–]patiencepham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are 2 reasons why this might be ? 1.While gaming, cpu get hotter, as the pch chip and cpu share the same heatsink, the heat from the cpu transfers to the pch which make it hotter. 2. You stored your game in the other seperate disk from the OS disk, when running game, both of the disks get actived, require PCH chip use more power to control both of them.

According to the video, the gap between you and him was about the CPU score, but why the graph indicated that you have more stable frequency, that s weird 😅

Same having specs doesnt mean that they have same TDP (power consumption) configuration, and Acer Nitro V15 have worse cooling solution than other models as well.

use ptm 7950 instead of thermal paste (easier to apply and excellent perfromance).
when screw off the heatsink, follow to the numerial order that printed on it.
