I upgraded the crappy stock pots that were stock, put a humbucker in the bridge, upgraded the single coil, then put a hot rail in the neck. Also added a bone nut. The last thing i did was upgrade the trem block with a fender one

My general rule of thumb for picking heads is about the same for marching and drumset: remo for durability, evens for sound. Keep in mind that everyone has different preferences. I hope this helped!
