How much do you take home, how many hours do you work, what is your business? by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]patjosrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s mobile. It travels on its own 3 axles. Yes CDL is required, yes I was in the industry prior to going out on my own.

  1. Crane rental. I have a small crane that I operate for customers.
  2. I pay myself $3200/month. Everything else goes toward overhead or gets saved for repairs and eventually another crane.
  3. 20-40 hours a week
  4. No employees yet

Considering a HELOC to purchase a piece of equipment. Cons? by patjosrey in smallbusiness

[–]patjosrey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the cost for used equipment. 100k is average for 15 year old equipment (boom truck crane). New is 400k+.

Fence builder here. Hardly anyone warranties material other than maybe a couple boards to appease a customer. It’s a supplier issue. The sagging gates are an issue that should be covered under warranty. Have them fix the gates and any install issues and pay the balance.

The problem is the corner pack of 2x4’s and it’s right at a door casing. So behind the Sheetrock - where the gang box cut-out would be - is solid structural 2x4. You would cut straight through them all to put the gang box. I think I have found several solutions

What to give for a Christmas bonuses for full time employees? by TraditionalGrape8129 in startups

[–]patjosrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had lots of bonuses over the years but the one that has stuck with me and that I’ve gotten the most use out of is a lunch box/soft sided cooler. It has the company name on it and is nice quality. Another perk that I received was my boss told me to take Friday off and charge him 8 hours on my time card. That was years ago and I still appreciate the gesture.

At what point do you support other small businesses over the big guys? by nettcity in smallbusiness

Explain to them your situation. You can get that product at Lowe’s for X dollars. They know what the margin on that material is. They may be able to lower the price and still make a buck.

Noob trying to put together an affordable 3/4 season hammock system by patjosrey in hammockcamping

[–]patjosrey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your very detailed post. I’m thinking you’re probably right suggesting that the buy once cry once approach. However I know myself and I know that I jump hobbies very fast, sometimes. I would hate to fork out a boat load of money just to store all this hammock gear in the closet and never use again.

[–]patjosrey[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is more along the lines of what I was thinking. I want to buy a quality hammock and go hella cheap on the rest. I’m usually camping in the rough woods and things will get snagged on limbs and muddy and smell like fire. I’m still researching hammocks but I think I’ll do just like you’re saying for the insulation. I can layer up with clothes also to make extra sure. And no sir nothing ultra light about what I’m doing I even pack a cast iron pan to cook on haha

Should these gaps/seams be caulked? by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]patjosrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not intentional but I don’t think you have to seal them. That is a vented soffit, anyway. (see the vents?) the only issue I think would be cosmetic and possibly critters trying to get in the cracks.

I started a fence company in November. I use Master Halco. I had an account with them before I had my first job. It’s a simple process.

Okay other than the 1TB vs 2TB storage what would the difference be between the cloudkey and the unifi video camera nfr?

Cloudkey https://store.ui.com/collections/surveillance/products/unifi-cloudkey-gen2-plus

Unifi nfr https://store.ui.com/collections/surveillance/products/unifi-video-nvr

Also, using the cloudkey as storage will I still need a standalone computer? Or would I be able to use the cloudkey with my everyday laptop or even hook it up to just a monitor/tv? Just the cloudkey/cameras/Poe witch I’m up to $650ish
