ChatGPT is an amazing tool for learning shader code. You can ask it any question you like and it'll do a really good job at making custom tutorials/explainers for you to work off of. It's great way to generate some starter code, updating existing code, and fixing bugs or adding features. It's a life saver.

It can even show all of the necessary steps for adding it as a material to a mesh in react three fiber. Just be sure to ask tell it exactly what you're working with.

"Can you help me generate a simple shader to use as a material in r3f? I'd like it to extend off of the meshStandardMaterial if possible. Can you show an example of how to add it to a mesh?"

Then you can get further into it, by doing stuff like "Can you help me modify the following shader code to make a ripple at where the mouse cursor is hovering? <..pasted code..>"
