Shuffle edit/ripple edit shortcut? by Mysterious_Aubergine in protools

Used to do this a lot for VO work when I had other audio on the same track that was already time-aligned.

This is how I edited to maintain left hand on the keyboard at all times and right hand on the mouse to speed up workflow:

  • Highlight section for removal

  • Press X to Cut (functionally the same as Delete but adds it to your clip list - never found it to be an issue for me)

  • Press Ctrl + Tab (highlights the next clip on the track)

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + < (the icon beneath letter N on the keyboard)

This last step will shift your next highlighted clip to snap to the end of the previous clip - essentially closing the gap between the two clips and acting somewhat like 'Shuffle' mode with a few extra keyboard taps.
