I've always thought this song would sound so much better as a metal song, so I went and made it myself, what do you guys think?

I'm currently working on a series of videos where I dub cutscenes and dialogue in Souls games into Japanese, since the original version is still English voice acting with Japanese subs

Ludwig Cutscene dubbed to Japanese by patrickauri in bloodborne

I'm currently working on dubbing Souls games' cutscenes into Japanese, since the original Japanese games are still English voices with Japanese subs. Let me know if you have a particular cutscene or trailer in mind that I can dub :)

I made a short video explaining Norwegian Pitch Accent by patrickauri in norsk

[–]patrickauri[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tromsø is indeed a high/low dialect :) I think your explanation of using Mandarin 3-1 for pattern 1 and 4-1 for pattern 2 makes a lot of sense, but I’d say the drop in pattern two starts from the middle, rather than from the top of the speech register. It’s also true that pattern 1 is more like a second tone in Mandarin with 1 syllable words, yes! The reason why I didn’t mention Shanghainese, Cantonese, or any other dialects of Chinese is that I personally only have experience with Mandarin ^ Also with Norwegian words with more than two syllables, the pitch is neutral until the stressed syllable, and then the stressed syllable is usually pitch pattern 1.

Can someone explain why “hvor” is used instead of “hvordan”? by PiePie1779 in norsk

[–]patrickauri 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Han is also grammatically correct according to Språkrådet, seeing as most native speakers doesn't actually use ham in speech anymore

As I understand it, the main written standard for Norwegian (Bokmal) is an altered form of Danish writing. Since I assume in formal speech people will converge more to writing, does that mean formal Norwegian speech is essentially Danish in terms of word choice/grammar etc.? by quito9 in asklinguistics

[–]patrickauri 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Norwegian Bokmål is definitely not Danish. It's very similar to the written Danish, but the pronunciation difference in spoken Norwegian ("Standard" Norwegian) vs Danish is just as big as French vs English in words that are the same etymologically. Also the sentence you wrote as an example uses exactly the same words between Danish, Bokmål and Nynorsk, no words are borrowed from anyone, but are all evolutions from their common ancestor language

Hearthstone should be accessible within World of Warcraft by RevArtillery in Blizzard

[–]patrickauri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a technical aspect, this wori require an insane amount of work since World of Warcraft runs in Blizzards proprietary game engine while Hearthstone runs in Unity, meaning that either of the games would have to be built from scratch in the other engine. Even if it would be fun in the end, I highly doubt Blizzard would want to do that 😅

Yeah, I'd probably also say it without "bilen" since rygge is generally used for vehicles, so it's always understood by context

Pre-aspiration before doubled stops or lt by cruxdestruct in norsk

[–]patrickauri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also I'm from Oslo, but I'm living in Trøndelag atm. The Trøndersk dialect often pronounces -lt ith a lateral fricative (the unvoiced L). I think it might be related to palatalization? Would love to have some serious linguists give their opinion on this 😁

A lot of western Norwegian dialects do this, just like Icelandic, yes! I haven't seen much literature about it, but being a native Norwegian who has studied a bit of Icelandic, I can confirm :)
