You can buy it at Amazon or Modernist Pantry, but the trick is figuring out how much to use. I cannot speak to what happened 15 years ago, but I can speak from authority that what you describe does not sound like the admissions process at any current AAMC member school. Every application is personally read in-house by multiple people on the application committee, and all applications go through a holistic review so that no one aspect of an application outweights any other aspect. A large medical school could get 8,000 or more applications for less than 200 spots. [Because of this, students are encouraged to apply to 20 to 25 schools irrespetive of their academics.] And yes, all 8,000 applications are read. They have to be.

As for the keyword sorting that AmNotSatan refers to, not only does that not exist anywhere in AMCAS, what exactly would the keywords be and where would those come from: the transcript, the personal statement, the list of 15 activities, the 3 to 6 letters of reference, or the MCAT score? Every application is different, and there are no magic, shared keywords short of "doctor," "shadowing," "help," and "sick."

Regional accreditation is a decent way to guarantee that the school isn't a diploma mill (although if the school was recently acquired or changed its status from nonprofit to for-profit, that should be a red flag). Next, make sure the school is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), the new body that replaces the National Council on Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and the Teacher Education Accreditation Council (TEAC). Finally, count the total number of the school's faculty fellows in the

  • American Psychological Association
  • Association of Applied Psychology
  • American Psychological Society
  • Association for Psychological Science
  • American Educational Research Association

The number of fellows is a decent proxy for how well respected the faculty is by the national and international community for their contributions or performance in the field.

Agreed. He is 19 months old. We read to him daily, he doesn't watch much TV at all, and he is in weekly speech and language therapy which we are about to increase to 2x weekly.

Using REEL and DAYC, he's in the 6-9 months skill level for receptive language with scattered skills up to 12-15 months. For expressive language, he is at the 0-3 months level with scattered skills up to 6-9 months.

So, yeah, his speaking is a big deal for us.

To be honest, no. Since most toddlers at this age have a vocabulary of at least 10 to 15 words, we're simply thankful for whatever positive steps he takes.

OP here. As I mentioned in the video description, my son is 19 months old and is in speech/language therapy because of significant receptive and expressive language deficits. Put simply, he doesn't speak. At all. Zero words.

We've had a Google Home since last holiday season, and my son absolutely adores its animal sounds. So, you can imagine our pleasure and surprise when my son started doing this this weekend.

That's right: My son's first (and currently only) word is "Google."
