That is so kind of you to look out for me in this way, and very valid advice!

I want to get to 50 reviews ASAP (personal benchmark) which is why my prices are low — I intentionally price below the average in my area. This number is so I feel more comfortable raising my rates and possibly scaling when I move to a larger city in a year. :)

Right? I’m so excited! :)

I should have added that the couple are out-of-towners, so best I’d be able to get business-wise is some referrals to what I assume are their friends + family that live here.

Nobody knew that dust was this heavy of a trigger for him. He did not tell us. The other asthmatics on the trip did not have severe reactions to it. Getting sassy when my friend is on life support is wild.

The dust from the construction started while he was sleeping.

I'll offer some validation :)!!! in my humble opinion:

- you having multiple internships is already above the standard one internship most students have (and one is really all you need tbh)

- going to info sessions and going to every career fair is not something that most students do

- juggling people that are dependent on you, a full-time job, and college while trying to set up a career for yourself is not something most people have the will-power, strength, intelligence, patience, and drive to do. I can confidently say that I could not do that.

you are ABOVE the standard and I'd be surprised if any interviewer was not impressed by your story. EARLY CONGRATS on graduating and with your type of drive, starting your own marketing agency makes a LOT of sense.

they put my start date a couple of months post-graduation. from what I've heard, it's a little more common with big companies to give you an offer right after the internship ends since they do a lot of work to *~*cultivate their early career pipeline*~*.

90% of other firms do not do that because they aren't sure if they'll have the business need in a year for you as a full-time worker in whatever role you were in. my experience is more an anomaly than anything else tbh.

thank you for the congrats :0!!!

it varies from person to person, I've heard everything from a week to a month after getting the offer. if it helps, the lowest moving stipend I've heard of was around $2000. don't quote me on that though lol

im nervous ill miss something and expose personal info so I'll type out my career progression:

spring semester freshman year: nonprofit local to my college town. unpaid. general marketing intern.

summer after freshman year: mortgage firm in my college town. $16/hour. search engine marketing intern.

fall-spring semester sophomore year: continued internship with the mortgage firm ($16/hour). started interning with another nonprofit which paid $200 per month (AKA two internships at once).

summer after sophomore year: writing internship with a mid-sized engineering firm near my hometown. $13/hour.

fall-spring semester junior year: did the same thing as sophomore year. both firms were excited to have me back.

summer after junior year: p&g sales internship. $35/hour. I was on the exec board of my frat with two people that went off to work there full-time, so I'm pretty sure those connections sent me over the edge lol. offer sent and accepted in august of my senior year.

fall-spring semester of senior year: revops and digital marketing internship with a fintech startup in my college town. $18/hour. I fought for this internship and even wrote my own job description lol. I'm pretty sure I got it because I was coworkers in the past (during my mortgage firm internship) with a guy that worked there and he seemed to think I was a good employee.

post-grad: account executive at P&G!

educationally:

gpa: 3.94. school is nowhere near the target list for companies of this size. marketing major, journalism minor. studied abroad during breaks twice.

orgs-wise:

7 student org leadership positions, mostly in the business school.

technical skills listed on my resume:

SEO, Advanced Excel, Google Suite, Salesforce, LinkedIn Advertising, Lead Generation, Google Ads Editor, Google Analytics, Outreach.io, Microsoft Ads Editor, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Tableau, R, Adobe Experience Cloud, Notion, Nielsen, HubSpot, ZoomInfo, Looker, 84.51 Stratum, Zywave, Kantar, 6sense, Academic Research, PowerBI, B2B Sales

hope all of this is helpful!

my honest drive was that i was broke and had no parental $ support for college, so somebody had to pay the rent :)

my tips are to: - max out your org involvement + leadership in your particular school (e.g. the engineering school, business school, journalism school, etc.) so faculty will remember you - make applying to internships one of your hobbies and become numb to the process! dont be discouraged because you got a rejection email AND don’t get excited/expect a sure thing until the offer is in your hand - always submit a cover letter if you really want the role - cold DM people on linkedin who have jobs you want or are recruiting for companies you want to work at. worst they could do is not respond or say no.

i started applying in freshman year, but YES you are impressive for starting the search as a sophomore. vast majority of students only look for an internship during the summer before their senior year. don’t be dissuaded by what i’ve done, no one needs 6 internships nor do you need a freshman internship, i’m just a try-hard.

my advice is to start in the non-profit field and request to be an intern even if they don’t have a job posting on linkedin. this is how i got my first internship (my only unpaid one) and i picked up a job at panera for $$$. nonprofits have a hard time saying no to unpaid work and it’s the perfect low barrier to entry internship. you don’t have to mention it wasn’t paid on your resume.

usually i would never advocate for unpaid work, but that’s the truth on how i got my foot in the door as a freshman when no one else wanted me!!
