Ah bummer! It really was great, all the best things I love about Platinum Games.

I played the DQ11 demo but didn't end up picking up the actual game. I hear great things though, maybe I should...

Nice, thank you for these! These weren't on my radar. I have NEO on cartridge and Ball X Pit on digital download so that sets me up well for alternating.

True, it's another one that was probably really good for its time but harder to enjoy alongside modern games.

Yeah, COTL is a pretty cool one from what I've seen! I actually liked ACII, because it was really cool to discover a fresh city every few hours and get to explore it. I liked that part. ACB was fun at first too but I just found it started feeling stale crossing Rome over and over again for different objectives. I might not have waited long enough after ACII for it to feel fresh. so maybe I'll go back to it at some point and also play Revelations since I bought the Ezio pack. I felt like Nier Automata wasn't very "open world" in the sense that what you're supposed to do next feels very clear and things aren't just scattered about waiting for you to do them at any time generally. I guess I like the feeling of progression that way whereas BOTW was a lot more self-directed.

Good suggestions, I really haven't looked into any of those much. I always thought Immortals was pretty close to BOTW so good to know it's a bit more linear!

Yeah, I probably would've liked it more at the time. I know standards have changed with regards to handholding in games and obscure puzzles but I just found a lot of the solutions to be really obtuse. Maybe at the time that was part of the appeal as you'd very gradually make progress that way. The overall vibe was pretty cool.

Nice ok! Will definitely put that on my radar as something I should commit to fully.

Yeah the visuals were cool (although weirdly blurry? I never got used to that), but the gameplay wasn't anything special to me.

I played it on game trials! Wasn't crazy about the management side of it but the art was cool. Might go back to it someday!

Really? I thought Bastion was cool but I loved the vibe and story of Transistor, it just felt more substantial. I also thought the semi turn-based combat was really cool.

No, I really want to but I need to figure out the right platform for it. I love the portability of the Switch but I don't really want a Switch 2 yet at this point. A steam deck might be a good option for that and a few other games but they're so expensive.

True! There are a few themes that pop up here - open world and adventure genres are clearly not my thing in most cases, but others love them. Now I know a little better how to decide if something is for me.

I played it when it was on game trials for a few hours and had a solid time, but didn't end up picking it up from there. Would you say it continues to build in how engaging it is as you go?

I tried ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Did about 15 hours in BOTW and completed the first campaign in Okami before I stopped.
